"A member of the Universal Archconfraternity, Center 63, donated this statue of Saint Philomena to the Chapel of Saint Lidwina. At the end of Holy Mass, Fr. Georgetown anointed everyone present with the oil of Saint Philomena, which he had received a few years earlier from Patti Melvin of the ULRA. We handed out a Saint Philomena kit to everyone present. The kit contained the cord and the oil from the Sanctuary in Sorocaba. The children received a picture of Saint Philomena to color, along with a box of colored pencils. Everything was prepared with great love! "

ST. PHILOMENA’S FEAST
CELEBRATED ON 11TH OF AUGUST 2026
AT HOLY ROSARY CATHOLIC CHURCH,
WARISPURA, FAISALABAD

The feast of St. Philomena was celebrated on the 11th of August 2026 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Warispura, Faisalabad. About 150 Rosary group leaders / members / guests participated in the feast celebrations. They came from different cities.

The program started with procession in which all guests alongwith Rev. Fr. Zeeshan Thomas OP participated. The statue of St. Philomena was carried in the procession. The small children who stood alongside threw rose petals as the procession passed by. The statue was placed at the altar and Rev. Fr. Zeeshan OP prayed for the groups, St. Philomena’s devotees and success and blessing of the program.

Then there was Rosary prayer. Each group was given a decade to lead during the Rosary. One group started the Rosary and one group led in the Litany. In this way seven groups were engaged in Rosary prayer. While leading the part of Rosary, the groups also sang a hymn at their turn.

Each year we arrange a special lecture to introduce some devotional item. Like last year, Brown Scapular’s history, blessings were explained by Rev. Fr. Irfan Christ OP. This year I chose Miraculous Medal; that was because almost all the Catholics love to wear MM around the neck but they don’t know about it. MM’s history, its beginning, its blessings and some miracles attached to it were explained by Bro. Nouman Chris OP.

Then there was Holy Mass. Main celebrant of Holy Mass was Rev. Fr. Zeeshan Thomas OP and assisted by Rev. Fr. Patrick Peter OP and Rev. Fr. Shakeel Michael OP. During the Holy Mass, priests prayed for the Universal Living Rosary, Archconfraternity of St. Philomena, all the members and devotees of St. Philomena.

Two tableaus were prepared by the groups. One was performed by St. Catherine Rosary group in which they explained the symbols (arrows, lily flower, etc) of St. Philomena. There was a young girl presented as St. Philomena; members turn by turn came and presented her the symbols and the group leader explained about the symbols.

Then there was crowing of St. Philomena. Crown was carried by a young girl in a procession with group leaders and Rev. Fr. Shakeel OP. Rev. Fr. Shakeel OP blessed the crown and placed it to the head of St. Philomena’s statue.

Some of the group leaders and members wanted to express their views. So they were given time. They explained how and when they started the Rosary group and how the Rosary group is a blessing for their homes and their surroundings.

The other tableau was performed by Rosary group from Jaranwala. That group presented a miracle of St. Philomena (taken from St. Philomena’s book). In the tableau, the miracle was nicely presented in which a girl fell from the hill and was saved by St. Philomena’s intercession.

After that, I congratulated everyone for the Feast of St. Philomena and thanked our Parish priest Rev. Fr. Toufeeq Younas OP and other priests for their co-operation. I also thanked each guest for participating in the program and preparing such a nice tableaus.

Then each participant was given a packet of books and devotional items (Rosary, MMs, St. Philomena’s oil in small bottle, her cord, her relic card, and her medal and prayer cards) and a certificate for participating in the feast celebrations. The priests were given stoles that were prepared by me.

In the end, there was a nice lunch which was enjoyed by everyone. Everyone was very happy and thanked for arranging this celebration.

Dear devotees of Saint Philomena. Today, the second Friday of the Month a Mass traditionally offered for all members of the Universal Archconfraternity both living and deceased. This tradition continues from the Birthplace of the Archconfraternity in Paris and also by spiritual directors around the world.

Let us join in prayer for each others intentions on this day.
