International Nonviolence Organization Sends Message to Council of Arab League in Tunisia.
On the occasion of the 166th ordinary session of the Council of the Arab League in the Republic of Tunisia, the International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslim), affiliated with the foundation of the Supreme Religious Authority Ayatollah Shirazi, may Allah prolong his life, issued the following message:
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
On the occasion of the 166th ordinary session of the Council of the Arab League in the Republic of Tunisia, the International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslim) extends its sincere greetings and prayers for the success of the leaders and participants in the session. It expresses hope that the session will conclude with historic and responsible decisions that address the pain and suffering of Arab peoples and fulfill their legitimate aspirations for dignity, justice, and freedom.
First: Releasing Prisoners of Conscience and Critics of Public Policies.
The organization emphasizes that the increasing number of arrests for expressing opinions, particularly statements made on social media in the form of strong criticism of officials and rulers, represents a serious human rights concern that damages the reputation of countries and undermines their prospects for stability.
Accordingly, the International Nonviolence Organization calls on the Arab leaders attending the Tunis session to issue a general recommendation for a comprehensive amnesty for prisoners of conscience. It stresses that responding to criticism with compassion and reform is a million times more effective than policies of imprisonment and silencing voices.
Second: Addressing Youth Crises and Opening Horizons of Hope.
Young people constitute a large proportion of the populations of Arab countries, while problems such as unemployment, limited opportunities, and a lack of development support are among the main factors contributing to growing despair and illegal migration.
The organization stresses the need to develop a common Arab strategy to support small-scale initiatives, create employment opportunities, and involve young people in decision-making concerning the future of their countries.
Third: Drawing on Positive Models, Iraq’s Experience in Allocating Land.
The organization highlights the recent positive measures taken by the Prime Minister of Iraq to allocate residential plots of land to eligible low-income individuals. It considers this service and development model a pioneering and successful experience that should be expanded across Arab countries to help reduce the housing crisis and create greater stability in the lives of disadvantaged citizens.
Fourth: Strategic Recommendations and Proposals for the Arab Countries’ Session.
Adopting dialogue:
Arab governments should be encouraged to establish permanent and transparent channels of communication with the public and civil society organizations to address social discontent peacefully.
Repealing laws restricting freedoms:
Laws and regulations that criminalize freedom of expression on the internet should be reviewed, while constructive criticism should be used as a genuine opportunity for administrative and political reform.
Social justice and fair distribution of wealth:
Development programs for deprived and marginalized areas should be expanded, and equal access to healthcare and education should be ensured for all.
In conclusion, the International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslim) expresses hope that the leaders of the Arab countries will succeed in this session in advancing the welfare of their peoples and the stability of their countries.
