The Sunday of the Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council
تُعيّد الكنيسة المقدّسة، في الأحد الذي يلي عيد الصعود الإلهي، لآباء المجمع المسكوني الأوّل الذين أعلنوا بإيمانٍ راسخ أن الرب يسوع المسيح، الصاعد إلى السماوات، هو "نورٌ من نور، وإلهٌ حقّ من إلهٍ حقّ".
ويتميّز هذا المجمع بأهميّة عظيمة بين جميع المجامع، لأنّه لم يدافع فقط عن ألوهيّة الابن، بل رسم للكنيسة طريق الحفاظ على الإيمان المستقيم، مؤكّدًا ضرورة الوحدة في العقيدة والحياة والشهادة، لكي تبقى الكنيسة ثابتة في الحقّ عبر الأجيال.
لقد كان آباء المجمع حَمَلة التقليد الرسولي، فرفضوا كل تعليم غريب، وتمسّكوا بالإيمان الذي تسلّموه من الرسل. حملوا التقليد، لأنّهم حملوا الروح القدس، فصاروا مناراتٍ للحقّ وحراسًا لوحدة الكنيسة وإيمانها.
On the Sunday following the Feast of the Ascension, the Holy Church commemorates the Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council, who proclaimed with steadfast faith that our Lord Jesus Christ, who ascended into heaven, is “Light from Light, true God from true God.”
This Council holds a unique and great importance among all the councils, not only because it defended the divinity of the Son, but also because it laid down the path for preserving the true faith, emphasizing the necessity of unity in doctrine, life, and witness, so that the Church may remain steadfast in the truth throughout the generations.
The Fathers of the Council were bearers of the Apostolic Tradition. They rejected every false teaching and remained faithful to the faith they had received from the Apostles. They carried the Tradition because they carried the Holy Spirit, becoming beacons of truth and guardians of the unity and faith of the Church.
