Proud of you Sreedhanya Suresh IAS!
Wayanad's gem Sreedhanya Suresh from Pozhuthana panchayat, belonging to Kurichiya community, who cleared Civil Services Exam with AIR 410 - the first person from a tribal community in Wayanad to achieve it.
Today, that story has added a glorious new chapter.
*Sreedhanya’s appointment marks a historic milestone in Kerala’s civil service and adds a new chapter to the story of an officer whose own journey to the IAS began in a modest tribal settlement in Wayanad.*
Sreedhanya Suresh, a 2019-batch IAS officer who was serving as the Commissioner of Food Safety, has been transferred and posted as Kasaragod District Collector. She is now the first woman from a Scheduled Tribe community in Kerala to head a district administration.
Behind this big achievement is a story of great struggle. Her father, Suresh, was a daily-wage labourer, while her mother, Kamala, took up work under the rural employment scheme. The family lived in a modest house with limited basic amenities, and electricity reached their home only a few years before Sreedhanya entered the civil services.
From that house in Ambalakkolly to the Collector's chair at Kasaragod - what an inspiring journey!
On behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Wayanad District, we visited her at her office today to congratulate her and share our happiness. We found the same humble and smiling Sreedhanya we always knew.
She is an inspiration for all of Kerala.
Wishing you a people-friendly and successful tenure, dear Collector!
