Today's Story: ✉️ The Letter Hidden Behind the Clock
The old clock in Mr. Samuel's shop had stopped at exactly 11:17.
Nobody knew why.
For thirty years, the clock had worked perfectly.
It had belonged to Samuel's father, who had repaired clocks in the village long before Samuel was born. When Samuel inherited the shop, he kept the old clock hanging above the counter as a reminder of his family.
Then one Monday morning, something strange happened.
Samuel was cleaning the clock when he heard a faint click from inside it.
He removed the wooden panel.
Behind the clock was a small envelope.
His name was written on it.
“Samuel — open this only when you believe you have lost everything.”
Samuel's hands began to tremble.
He opened the envelope.
Inside was a letter from his father, who had died twelve years earlier.
«My dear Samuel,
If you are reading this, something must have happened that has made you feel completely helpless.
I know you. When trouble comes, you try to solve everything yourself. You carry tomorrow before tomorrow ever arrives.
But there is something I learned too late in my life.
Some things cannot be fixed by stronger hands.
Some questions cannot be answered by a worried mind.
And some doors can only be opened when we stop trying to control everything and place it in God's hands.
Remember this: God cares for you more deeply than you will ever understand.
Your father.»
Samuel sat down.
The timing of the letter felt almost frightening.
Because that very morning, Samuel had received terrible news.
The bank was going to take his shop.
Years of unpaid debts had finally caught up with him.
The little clock shop—the place his family had built over generations—would be gone within seven days.
Samuel had spent the entire night calculating numbers, making plans, and imagining every possible disaster.
He had not told anyone.
Not even his wife.
He looked at the letter again.
Then he whispered,
“Father... how did you know?”
But there was no answer.
Only the steady ticking of another clock nearby.
That evening, Samuel locked the shop and sat alone in the darkness.
For years, he had prayed only after making every plan he could think of.
This time, he did something different.
He stopped planning.
He stopped calculating.
He stopped pretending he could control everything.
He knelt beside the old clock.
“God,” he whispered, “I don't know what will happen to this shop.
I don't know how to fix this.
I don't even know what tomorrow will look like.
But I am tired of carrying tomorrow before it arrives.
So tonight, I'm giving it to You.”
For the first time in weeks, Samuel slept peacefully.
The next morning, something unexpected happened.
A young woman entered the shop carrying a broken pocket watch.
“My grandfather gave me this,” she said. “He told me you were the only person who could repair it.”
Samuel examined it.
The watch was badly damaged.
He almost refused.
Then he noticed something engraved on the back:
“Samuel's Clock Shop — 1974.”
Samuel stared at it.
“Where did you get this?”
“My grandfather bought it here when he was young.”
Samuel repaired the watch.
When the woman returned, she was so delighted that she told her family about the shop.
Within days, people began arriving with old watches, clocks, and family heirlooms.
Then something even more unexpected happened.
A local businessman walked into the shop.
“I've heard about your work,” he said. “I'm opening an antique store nearby. I'd like you to restore the clocks for me.”
It wasn't a miracle that erased Samuel's debt overnight.
It was something quieter.
One door opened. Then another. Then another.
And Samuel realized something.
While he had been spending his nights imagining every possible disaster, God had already been preparing possibilities he could not see.
A week later, Samuel returned to the bank.
He still had debts.
He still had problems.
But he also had new work, new customers, and a renewed sense of hope.
The shop was saved.
Years later, the old clock was still hanging above the counter.
And whenever someone came into the shop overwhelmed by worry, Samuel would point toward it and say:
“Do you see that clock?”
They would nod.
He would smile.
“Sometimes we spend so much time worrying about what happens next that we forget God is already there.”
Then he would tell them about the letter.
And he would leave them with the words that had changed his own life:
“Cast all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.”
❤️ Moral
We often believe that worrying means we are preparing for tomorrow.
But worry cannot control tomorrow.
It only steals the peace of today.
There will be moments when you don't know how the story will end.
Don't write the ending yourself in fear.
Give your unanswered questions to God.
Give Him the things you cannot control.
Give Him the future you cannot see.
Because while you are worrying about tomorrow,
God is already there. ✝️❤️
«“Cast all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
