Where does everything come from?

The Bhagavad-gītā teaches that Śrī Kṛṣṇa has two categories of energies. First is His material energy (aparā prakṛti), consisting of earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence, and false ego (Bhagavad-gītā 7.4). Second is His superior energy (parā prakṛti)—the living beings (Bhagavad-gītā 7.5). Material nature works entirely under His supervision (Bhagavad-gītā 9.10).

The Śrīmad Bhāgavatam reveals that the Supreme Lord is the source, support, and ultimate reality behind everything that exists. Everything rests in Him, yet He remains eternally transcendental to His creation (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 2.9.33–35).

In the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava tradition, these scriptural teachings are further explained through the categories of bahiraṅgā-śakti (external energy), taṭasthā-śakti (the marginal energy—the living beings), and antaraṅgā-śakti (the Lord's internal spiritual potency). Bhakti gradually frees the soul from the influence of the external energy and awakens loving service to Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
