GLORIFY GOD THROUGH DEATH.
JESUS CHRIST GLORIFIED GOD THROUGH HIS DEATH
From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. MATHEW 16 V21
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. PHILIPIANS 2 V 8
JESUS CHRIST PROPHESIED ABOUT PETERS DEATH
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. 19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me. JOHN 21 V 18,19
Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. 13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; 14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. 2 PETER V 12-15
PAUL GLORIFIED GOD BY DYING EVERYDAY
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 TIMOTHY 4 V 6-8
STEPHEN GLORIFIED GOD BY HIS DEATH
But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. 57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, 58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. 59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. ACTS 7 V 55-60
ANTIPAS BECAME A FAITHFUL MARTYR
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. REVELATION 2 V 10
I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. REVELATION 2 V 13
JOHN THE BAPTIST GLORIFIED GOD BY HIS DEATH
And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist’s head in a charger. 9 And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her. 10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison. 11 And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother. MATHEW 14 V 8-11
DEATH IS LIFE FOR US IN CHRIST JESUS. FOLLOW OUR LORD TO THE CROSS. A TRUE CHRISTIAN LIFE IS LIFE CHOSEN BY GOD TO SUFFER FOR HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS SAKE.
