This ashrama was started by Swami Shivananda, A direct disciple of sri Ramakrishna at the bidding of Swami Vivekananda on the 4th July, 1902 with the sole purpose of spreading the message of Advaita Vedanta, as preached and demonstrated by sri Ramakrishna, Sri Maa Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. This Ashrama has been sanctified by the holy visits of Maa sarada devi, Swami brahmananda, Swami Saradananda, Swami Advutananda and all other most direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. Here Stands the first Built temple of Sri Ramakrishna wherein first ever built image is being worshiped daily with the cooked food offerings. Ashrama has a library with more than 17000 books and some very rare manuscripts. Also maintaining a room with the last used articles of Swami Advutananda ( Latu Maharaj).
