The Inauguration and Blessing of St. George Secondary School, Chiading, under St. George Church, Samanda, was held on 10th August 2026.
The school was inaugurated by Dr. Mukul Sangma, Hon’ble MLA, 41-Songsak, in the presence of Most Rev. C. J. Jose, Auxiliary Bishop of Tura, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, along with clergy, religious, teachers, students, parents and well-wishers.
The new school is a blessing and a new hope for the people of Chiading and the surrounding areas, providing greater access to education and opportunities for growth. The school will be entrusted to the Sisters of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy (FDM), who will dedicate themselves to the education, care and holistic formation of the children.
May St. George Secondary School become a beacon of knowledge, faith and hope, nurturing young minds and bringing a brighter future to the community. 🙏📚✨

Tura Diocesan Fraternity (DF) was celebrated at the Pastoral Centre, Walbakgre, fostering fraternity among the priests and renewing their commitment to the priestly vocation.

During the celebration, Rev. Fr. K. K. Thomas was felicitated on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee (50th years of Priesthood) of his priestly ordination. The gathering also officially welcomed the newly ordained priests, Rev. Fr. David R. Marak and Rev. Fr. Sylvester M. Sangma, into the diocesan presbyterate.

The celebration was held in honor of St. John Vianney, the Patron Saint of Parish Priests, inspiring all priests to renew their dedication to Christ and His Church.

In Loving Remembrance of Late Bishop George Mamalassery, the First Bishop of Tura, and in Joyful Thanksgiving for the 6th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary of Most Rev. Jose Chirackal

The Second Death Anniversary of Late Bishop George Mamalassery, the first Bishop of Tura, was solemnly commemorated with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, followed by the unveiling of the Bishop Mama Bust.

On the same occasion, the 6th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary of Most Rev. Jose Chirackal was joyfully celebrated. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Most Rev. Andrew R. Marak, Bishop of Tura.

A significant highlight of the occasion was the official naming of the road from Walbakgre Junction to St. Luke Parish Church and Holy Cross Hospital as “Bishop Mama Road,” in loving memory of Late Bishop George Mamalassery, honouring his enduring legacy and outstanding contribution to the Diocese of Tura.

Hon’ble Shri Marcuise N. Marak, Cabinet Minister for PHE, Soil & Water Conservation and Housing Department, Government of Meghalaya, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, unveiled the Bishop Mama Bust, and officially inaugurated Bishop Mama Road.

On 29 June 2026, the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, five brothers of St. Peter’s Minor Seminary, Tura, received the clerical cassock, marking an important milestone as they begin their Regency after completing their B.A. in Philosophy.

The ceremony was conferred by Most Rev. Andrew R. Marak, Bishop of Tura, in the presence of priests, religious sisters, parents, relatives, and well-wishers.
