One Million Children Praying the Rosary Observed in the Diocese of Tura

Tura, 7 October 2026: Children across the Diocese of Tura joined the worldwide initiative One Million Children Praying the Rosary on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, offering their prayers for peace in the world and for the needs of the Church and humanity.

The initiative encouraged parishes, schools, and religious institutions to gather children to pray the Holy Rosary together, entrusting the world to the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The prayer initiative served as a reminder of the importance of nurturing faith and devotion among children and encouraging them to become instruments of peace through prayer. It also provided an opportunity for clergy, religious, teachers, and catechists to lead children in this beautiful Marian devotion.

Through this initiative, the Diocese of Tura joined the universal Church in promoting prayer, unity, and peace, inspired by the message of Our Lady of the Rosary.

DIOCESE OF TURA | ANNUAL RETREAT FOR PRIESTS 2026
27 September – 2 October 2026

A blessed and meaningful six days of retreat came to a close today. It was a beautiful opportunity for our priests to step away from the busyness of daily ministry and return to the Lord in prayer, silence and reflection.

These days offered us a precious time to slow down, experience the calm and serenity of being with the Lord, renew our hearts, and rediscover the joy and strength of our priestly vocation. In the quiet moments of prayer and fellowship, we were reminded once again that before being servants of the Lord, we are first called to remain close to Him.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Jose, OFM Capuchin, for animating and guiding us throughout the retreat with his inspiring reflections and spiritual accompaniment. May the Lord reward him abundantly for his generous ministry.

The retreat was also a joyful occasion as we celebrated Fr. Matthew’s Silver Jubilee of Priestly Ordination. We thank God for the gift of his priestly ministry and pray that He may continue to bless him with grace, strength and many fruitful years of service.

As we return to our respective missions, may the grace received during these days remain with us and inspire us to serve God and His people with renewed faith, love and dedication.

“Remain in me, as I remain in you.” (John 15:4)

May the Lord continue to guide, strengthen and renew all our priests.

Head Catechist Training ( Procharokrangni)Programme Concludes

The Procharoks Head Catechist Training Programme 2026, held from 15–24 September, concluded today at the Pastoral Centre, Diocese of Tura.

The concluding day began with the Holy Eucharist, followed by breakfast and the departure of the participants to their respective parishes and villages.

As part of the concluding programme, the participants who performed well in the examination were recognized:

🥇 1st – Bhully Marak, Sacred Heart Shrine Tura Parish
🥈 2nd – Molnath B. Marak, Jengjal Parish
🥉 3rd – Pitilson T. Sangma, Deku Parish

Nikjen A. Sangma was recognized as the Best Procharok for his dedicated service and for spending more days in the villages.

The ten-day programme was a time of formation, spiritual renewal, learning and fellowship. The participants returned to their respective places of ministry with renewed knowledge and commitment to serve the Church and the people.

May God bless and strengthen all our Procharoks in their ministry! 🙏

The Diocese of Tura is conducting the Head Catechists Training Programme from 15 to 24 September 2026, a ten day programme aimed at strengthening and equipping our head catechists for their important ministry of faith formation.

The programme was beautifully inaugurated by His Lordship Most Rev. Andrew R. Marak, DD, Bishop of Tura, who officially opened the training and encouraged the participants in their mission of serving the Church and the people entrusted to their care.

Throughout these ten days, various resource persons will be sharing their knowledge, experience and insights on different aspects of catechesis and the ministry of catechists.

May this training be a fruitful time of learning, renewal and spiritual growth for all our head catechists.

The newly extended St. Jude School under Chondonpara Parish was inaugurated today with the ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Dr. Mukul M. Sangma, Hon’ble MLA of Songsak Constituency and former Chief Minister of Meghalaya. The building was subsequently blessed by Most Rev. Andrew R. Marak, Bishop of Tura.
The completion of this building is a significant milestone for the school and the surrounding community. Amidst many challenges and struggles, the project was brought to completion through the perseverance and dedication of the Parish Community, along with the generous contributions and support of benefactors and well-wishers.
This newly extended facility will provide a better environment for the education and formation of children. May this building become a source of many blessings for the people of the surrounding communities, especially for the children and young people who will learn and grow within its walls.
We express our sincere gratitude to all who contributed to making this vision a reality. May God bless their generosity and continue to guide the mission of St. Jude School.

The Inauguration and Blessing of St. George Secondary School, Chiading, under St. George Church, Samanda, was held on 10th August 2026.
The school was inaugurated by Dr. Mukul Sangma, Hon’ble MLA, 41-Songsak, in the presence of Most Rev. C. J. Jose, Auxiliary Bishop of Tura, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, along with clergy, religious, teachers, students, parents and well-wishers.
The new school is a blessing and a new hope for the people of Chiading and the surrounding areas, providing greater access to education and opportunities for growth. The school will be entrusted to the Sisters of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy (FDM), who will dedicate themselves to the education, care and holistic formation of the children.
May St. George Secondary School become a beacon of knowledge, faith and hope, nurturing young minds and bringing a brighter future to the community. 🙏📚✨

Tura Diocesan Fraternity (DF) was celebrated at the Pastoral Centre, Walbakgre, fostering fraternity among the priests and renewing their commitment to the priestly vocation.

During the celebration, Rev. Fr. K. K. Thomas was felicitated on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee (50th years of Priesthood) of his priestly ordination. The gathering also officially welcomed the newly ordained priests, Rev. Fr. David R. Marak and Rev. Fr. Sylvester M. Sangma, into the diocesan presbyterate.

The celebration was held in honor of St. John Vianney, the Patron Saint of Parish Priests, inspiring all priests to renew their dedication to Christ and His Church.
