Dohnavur Fellowship

Dohnavur Fellowship Our Unseen Leader, the Lord Jesus Christ, still says, "Let the little children come to me".

Amy Wilson Carmichael (16 December 1867 - 18 January 1951) was a Protestant Christian missionary in India, who opened an orphanage and founded a mission in Dohnavur. She served in India for 55 years without furlough and wrote many books about the missionary work here.

'Amma' (Mother), as she was known to her large Dohnavur Family, gave fifty years of her life to rescuing babies and children from

situations and backgrounds of extreme danger, until her death in 1951, aged eighty-three. The first child, Preena, who was seven years old, escaped from a temple where she was being trained for a life as a cult pr******te; she begged to be protected. In 1947 the government of India made the custom of giving babies and young children to this kind of life illegal, but the practice of infanticide, as a way of coping with poverty and unwanted female babies, is widespread. Other family tragedies also put children's moral and physical safety at risk and the little ones who come to The Dohnavur Fellowship today, come with the same spoken or unspoken cry for protection on their lips.

To,
My Father in heaven,
The Dohnavur Fellowship, envisioned by Amy Carmichael as a legacy for future generations to serve Christ, is gradually fading away in this century. You know about Santhosha Vidhyalaya School; it is a renowned school run by a fellowship team on their premises. They provide education for missionary students, which is highly commendable. However, what about our orphan fellowship children? The children of Amy Carmichael travel to nearby villages for their education in government schools. Due to a lack of proper education and care also they do not know the worldly people well, which leads to a miserable life. These young girls get involved with bad company, even though they may not have strong morals, their kind hearts are corrupted, leading to unhealthy relationships. Thus, their lives end up entwined with local men, moving further away from Christ and Amy Carmichael's visions. Mostly, these young orphan girls end up marrying Hindu men. Those administering the fellowship and their children are well-educated; some of them are even doctors.

Christ came to serve, not to be served. He showed us how to love, not to be selfish. There are no Christian values present in the fellowship founded by Amy Carmichael. It's not the will and desire of Amma. I can't call it a fellowship anymore; it's now a business organization that operates for the purpose of administration and their families.

PRAYER TO YOU

Dear loving Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I trust you Father your mercy endures forever. Still, you are the king and the righteous judge. Please help those orphan children; it's their foundation. They are brought up worldly, not in Christ. Help them to grow in Christ and provide them with everything they need, especially a good education and your teachings. Please help the management by enlightening their vision. Please provide sponsors for orphaned children if they refuse to join them in their school. Let the light of Jesus shine upon everyone's heart in Dohnavur Fellowship, not superficially. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

“We stand, when we are young, on the sunny slope among the pines, and look across an unknown country to the mountains. There are clouds, but they are edged with light. We do not fear as we dip into the valley; we do not fear the clouds. Thank God for the splendid fearlessness of youth. And as for older travelers whom the Lord has led over the hill and the dale, they have not been given the spirit of fear. They think of the way they have come since they stood on that bright hillside, and their word is always this: There are reasons and reasons for hope and for happiness, and never one for fear.” ― Amy Carmichael
