இறைவனின் நேரடித் தொடர்பு அறுந்துவிட்டபோது, அவர், தேவதூதர்கள் மூலமாக நம்முடன் தொடர்பு கொண்டார். அவ்வாறு எழுதப்பட்ட வேதாகமத்தை (பைபிள்) பல்வேறு காலகட்டங்களில், பல்வேறு துறைகளைச் சார்ந்த மனிதர்கள் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினால் ஏவப்பட்டு எழுதினார்கள். வேதாகமத்தை வேதவல்லுநர்கள் பழைய ஏற்பாடு, புதிய ஏற்பாடு என இரண்டாகப் பிரித்துள்ளனர்.
பழைய ஏற்பாட்டின் காலம்: பழைய ஏற்பாட்டில் சிறிதும், பெரிதுமாக 39 புத்தகங்கள் உள்ளன. முதன்முதலாக எழுதப்பட்ட புத்தகம் "யோபு'. இது கி.மு.2150ல் எழுதப்பட்டது. மற்ற 38 புத்தகங்களும் கி.மு.1500 முதல் கி.மு.400 வரை எழுதப்பட்டது. பழைய ஏற்பாட்டை பிரமாணம், தீர்க்கதரிசனம், வேத எழுத்துக்கள் என்று மூன்று வகையாக பிரித்துள்ளனர்.
மொழி: 39 புத்தகங்களும் எபிரேய மொழியில் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது. எஸ்றா, எரேமியா மற்றும் தானியேல் புத்தகங்களில் சில பகுதிகள் "அரெமிக்' மொழியில் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது. இயேசு கிறிஸ்து பேசிய மொழி இதுவே.
ஆசிரியர்கள்: ஆமோஸ் போன்று கூலி வேலை செய்பவர் முதல் தாவீது போன்ற அரசர்கள் வரை பல குணங்களுடைய, பல தொழில்களில் ஈடுபட்ட தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகள் தேவ ஆவியால் ஏவப்பட்டு எழுதினார்கள். பத்து கற்பனைகளை மட்டும் தமது சொந்த விரலினால் கடவுள் எழுதினார். ""ஆண்டவர் வசனம் தந்தார். அதை பிரசித்தப்படுத்துகிறவர்களின் கூட்டம் மிகுதி'' (சங்கீதம் 68:11) என்ற வசனத்தின்படி, 32 வித்தியாசமான மனிதர்கள் ஒரே கருத்தான ""நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் ஒருவரே'' (மாற்கு 12:29) என்ற கருத்தை மட்டும் எழுதியுள்ளார்கள்.
புதிய ஏற்பாடு காலம்: புதிய ஏற்பாட்டின் காலம் கி.பி.50 முதல் கி.பி.100 வரை ஆகும். ஏறக்குறைய 50 ஆண்டுகளுக்குள் 27 புத்தகங்களும் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது. "யாக்கோபின் நிருபம்' தான் முதலில் எழுதப்பட்ட புத்தகம் ஆகும். புதிய ஏற்பாட்டை சுவிஷேசங்கள், நிருபங்கள், தீர்க்க தரிசனங்கள் என்று மூன்று வகையாக பிரித்துள்ளனர். இயேசு கிறிஸ்து ""அரெமிக்'' மொழியில் பேசினாலும், புதிய ஏற்பாடு முழுவதும் கிரேக்க மொழியில்தான் எழுதப்பட்டது.
இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் சீடர்கள், வைத்தியர், கூடாரத் தொழிலாளி போன்ற பல பணிகளில் ஈடுபட்ட எட்டு (8) வேத அறிஞர்கள் புதிய ஏற்பாட்டை எழுதினார்கள். இப்போது எழுத்து வடிவம் உள்ள எல்லா மொழிகளிலும் மொழி பெயர்க்கப்பட்டு, அதிக மொழிகளில் அதிக எண்ணிக்கையில் வெளியிடப்படும் புத்தகம் பரிசுத்த வேதாகமமே ஆகும். வேதாகமத்தை ஆர்வத்துடன் ஆழ்ந்து படித்து ஆண்டவரின் ஆசியைப் பெறுவோமாக!

Today, we pray for those lukewarm in their faith

Lord Jesus, today we surrender to You those among us who have a lukewarm relationship with You and Your people. Lord, You said that those who are neither hot nor cold would be spat out. We pray that we really begin to live out our Christian faith with love, passion, freedom and grace. May we also never become blind followers of the blind, but exercise Your wisdom and caution, when facing challenges in our faith walk. Bring Your Spirit alive in us – every day – give us a fresh anointing of Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
