The main occupation of the villagers is agriculture. Before Karuthapillaiyur was made a separate parish it was under the pastoral jurisdiction of Tenkasi Parish Rev. the parish priest of Tenkasi worked hard for the economic, social and education growth of the people. Peter Roy had left a substantial amount for the extension of the church. It could materialize through the additional support from th
e people and the parish revenues. The extension work was undertaken by Rev. Alphonse and was completed by Rev. V.M. Irudayam. Karuthapillaiyur was declared an independent parish in 1944. The parish has seen its growth in all social, economic, perspective religious, spiritual and human. A school which was as middle school for long time has been up grated into St. Antony's High School in 1999. The credit goes to Rev. Antony Xavier who took timely and pro-active efforts to accomplish it. Succession of the Priests:
