The village has always been known to be a place of peace and quiet.It is occupied by people of all religions like Hindu, Muslim and Christianity living in harmony. The workers in the village leave their homes early in the morning to work in the flower gardens nearby. Some have their own gardens,and others go for wages.The flowers are then sent to market inThovalai from where it is exported to the
Gulf countries. Some make beedi in their homes which are then packaged and branded with the company label ready to sell. Also majority of the people work in Gulf countries as labours. In the afternoon, most of the villagers are at home. Some of them take a nap after lunch, do some work in their small gardens or pay some visit to the small shops in the village. In various parts of the village, children may be found playing the popular games of the village. Occasionally, a cyclist passes by. TDTA primary school is the only school in the village providing education for more than decades.People has to travel to vadakkankulam or Avaraikulam for continuing the higher secondary. The village has church in the middle of the village,a mosque at the west side and surrounded by many temples like Mayavar Koil,Murugan Koil,Narayana samy koil ,sekkadi Essaki amman koil,Sathan koil and sudalai madan koil. The village is surrounded by windmills after 90s and provides a means of employment for people living in and around the village. Majority of the population is Hindus comprising sub-caste of Nadars and Navithars, Muslims and then the Christians. The village has a small pond on its north side which provides a means of irrigation for the paddy fields. Nearest villages are MadhagaNeri,Alaganeri, Avaraikulam, vadakkankulam. These simple ways of life in the village, however, must soon change. Progress in science and education has already begun to affect the outlook of the people in the village. Many are leaving the village to seek their fortunes in the towns and cities.
