In 1990, Kashmir witnessed one of the darkest chapters in India’s modern history. Kashmiri Pandits were systematically targeted by terrorist groups through killings, threats, and intimidation forcing an entire community to flee almost overnight. Homes were looted, temples were vandalized, and families who had lived in the Valley for generations were reduced to refugees in their own country. Thousands were displaced, many lost their lives, and countless others were left to rebuild from trauma and silence in relief camps. This was ethnic cleansing and even today, Kashmiri Hindus continue to wait for justice and the right to return home.

The sacred Thiruparankundram Hill — an ancient abode — turned tense today after the court ordered that Karthika Deepam must be lit at the traditional Murugan spot by 6 PM.

But the controlled HRCE refused to follow the order, risking contempt of court.

Devotees gathered peacefully, but police allegedly used force instead of ensuring compliance.
The situation escalated, echoing past clashes between religious rights and political motives.

Thiruparankundram has been a Murugan site since antiquity. Hindus have long opposed the placement of non-Hindu structures — including Islamic illegal graveyard established during Tipu Sultan’s era — on or near the sacred hill.

Why is the government ready to face contempt rather than allow a traditional Hindu ritual?
Are vote-bank calculations dictating temple decisions?

this is yet another moment where Hindu cultural rights are sidelined for political convenience and anti Hindu sentiments by DMK / Communists
