Sri Sri Radharaman today is widely recognized as a personality of great spiritual eminence. Sri Sri Radharaman was born a hundred years ago in 1915 (as per Bengali calendar on the day of Poornima, month of Agrahan of the year 1322). He was born on a Hindu Brahmin family (Sylhet) in the village of ‘Baramchal’, ‘Srihotto’ district of then India (current B

angladesh). He was the only child of Sri Ambika Charan Chakraborty and Sohagmoni and named as Sri Annoyoda Chakraborty. Since childhood, he was identified as divine child and was more interested in spirituality unlike other child. He was fond of ‘Lord Krishna’ and was completely occupied with the ‘Krishna Prem’ (Love of Krishna). His family was worried of him becoming a saint and hence they fixed his marriage. At the age of 15, he got married to ‘Mognomoyee’; known as ‘Radharani’, who became his spiritual partner. However, on the third night of marriage, Sri Sri Radharaman left the house as he was meant for the entire mankind. He received the manifestation of initiation (Diksha) from ‘Panishail Ashram’ and became ‘Baishnab’ (Vaishnavism). Vaishnava dharma is focused on the veneration of ‘Vishnu’, lead a way of life promoting the central importance of Vishnu and his 10 ‘Avatars’ (including Rama and Krishna). As per dharma, he was renamed as ‘Sri Radharaman’ by his Diksha guru Sri Sri Govinda Charan goswami. The mysterious aloofness of his personality was totally beyond human understanding and yet it was so tempered by his compassionate love for all living beings that he seems closer than the most indulgent friend ever could be. Sri Sri Radharaman, after Diksha, became more eager to spread the ‘Krishna Naam’ to the whole mankind and so he started travelling across length and breadth of Sylhet. He was the embodiment of a joyous self-sufficiency, which captured the hearts of all who came near him. Although he travelled incessantly, it was seen that he was at home everywhere and no one was a stranger to him. Eventually, he decided to leave Bangladesh and travelled to north eastern part of India, where majority Hindus from Sylhet travelled during division. In ‘Baroigram’ of Karimganj district of Assam, Prabhupad started staying in an Ashram of Sri Sri Gopal Jiu which later become ‘Sri Sri Gopal Jiu, Sri Sri Radhavinod Jiu and Sri Sri Radharaman jiu’s Ashram, Baroigram. The dalliance of Prabhupad spreaded all over the north-east and people from far away also started visiting him and receive manifestation of initiation from him.
