History
It was Bishop George Alappat who invited us and gave us permission to open a house at Thrissur. Injodikaran Iyyappan at a very nominal price and he also helped us substantially towards the construction of our Chapel. The foundation stone of the chapel was laid on 27th Feb., 1955 and on 14th Sept., 1958 the chapel was blessed and the altar consecrated by His Excellency George Alappat. The f

riary and the chapel were built by Br. Athanasius and Br. Gerard. Gilbert, Br. Samuel, Br. Jeremias, Br. Cosmos and Br. Thomas Kalappura were the other members who joined them. In 1961, the friary was constituted a study house of Philosophy. To house the students, a large extension was put up by Br. Gerard and it was blessed on 31st May, 1961. From then on it was the house of Philosophy and in 1972 it was declared one of the common study houses (Philosophy) of the four Indian Jurisdictions. It ceased to be a common study house of the Indian Jurisdictions from the scholastic year 1981 – 1982. From 1st July, 1981 it started functioning as the combined Philosophate and Theologate of St. Joseph Province, Kerala. But Theology was later shifted to St. Francis Theological College, Thellakom, Kottayam in 1986. With the bifurcation of St. Joseph Province into two in 1999, the administration and management of Calvary Philosophical College fell into the hands of St. Thomas Province, Kerala.However it continues to be serving the three jurisdictions of the Syro Malabar Rite in Kerala. provinces imparting Phiolosophical training to thier students. *കേരളത്തിൽ ഒരു പിരമിഡ്?*

ആരാണ് സഭ? ഹയരാർക്കിയാണോ? അതോ ദൈവജനമാണോ? ഈ ചോദ്യം ഇന്നത്തെ കേരളസഭയുടെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ ഉയർന്നുവന്നതാണെന്ന് പെട്ടെന്ന് തോന്നാം. എന്നാൽ അതല്ല സത്യം.

ഒന്നാം വത്തിക്കാൻ കൗൺസിലിനും ഏറെ മുമ്പ് പതിനാറാം ഗ്രിഗരി പാപ്പാ (1765-1846) നിഷ്കളങ്കതയോടെ പറഞ്ഞുവച്ചു: "കൽപ്പിക്കാൻ ചിലരെയും, അത് അനുസരിക്കാൻ മറ്റുള്ളവരെയും ദൈവം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന അസമത്വ സമൂഹമാണ് സഭ. ഇതിൽ ആദ്യത്തെ കൂട്ടർ പുരോഹിതരും രണ്ടാമത്തേത് അല്മായരുമാണ്."

നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾ കഴിഞ്ഞ്, 1963-ൽ രണ്ടാം വത്തിക്കാൻ കൗൺസിലിന്റെ 'തിരുസഭയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള' പ്രമാണരേഖയുടെ ആദ്യത്തെ ഡ്രാഫ്റ്റ് ചർച്ച ചെയ്യുന്ന സമയം. ബെൽജിയൻ മെത്രാൻ സ്മെഡ്റ്റ് തീർത്തുപറഞ്ഞു: "ജനങ്ങളും അവരുടെ മുകളിൽ പുരോഹിതരും അവർക്ക് മുകളിൽ മെത്രാന്മാരും എല്ലാർക്കും മുകളിൽ മാർപാപ്പയും അണിനിരക്കുന്ന ഒരു പിരമിഡല്ല സഭ." അതിന്റെ തുടർച്ചയായി കർദ്ദിനാൾ സുനെൻസ് പറഞ്ഞു വച്ചു: "പഴയ പിരമിഡ് തലകീഴായി മറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു."

തുടർന്നുനടന്ന നീണ്ട സംവാദം 'തിരുസഭ' എന്ന പ്രമാണരേഖയുടെ ഘടന തന്നെ മാറ്റിമറിച്ചു. 'സഭയെന്ന രഹസ്യം' എന്ന ഒന്നാം അദ്ധ്യായത്തിന് ശേഷമുണ്ടായിരുന്ന 'ഹയരാർക്കി' എന്ന രണ്ടാം അദ്ധ്യായത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം തെറിച്ചു. അവിടേക്ക് 'ദൈവജനം' രണ്ടാം അദ്ധ്യായമായി കടന്നുവന്നു. ദൈവജനത്തിന് ശേഷം മാത്രമേ, ഹയരാർക്കിക്ക് സ്ഥാനമുള്ളൂ. അതിനാൽ ഹയരാർക്കി മൂന്നാം അദ്ധ്യായമായി. അങ്ങനെ, താത്വികമായിട്ടെങ്കിലും സഭ 'തല കുത്തിനിൽക്കുന്ന പിരമിഡായി'.

ഉദയംപേരൂർ കാനോനകളുടെ പഠിതാവായ സ്കറിയാ സക്കറിയാ പറയുന്നു: "വത്തിക്കാൻ കൗൺസിലിന് അനേക നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾക്ക് മുമ്പ് നമുക്കിവിടെ പള്ളിയോഗമുണ്ട്. എല്ലാ ഇടവക പ്രതിനിധികളും ഒരുമിച്ചു കൂടുന്ന സഭാ സമ്മേളനമായിരുന്നു പൊതുയോഗം. ദൈവജനത്തിന്റെ കൂട്ടായ്മയാണ് സഭയെന്നതാണ് ഇതിൽ അന്തർലീനമായിരിക്കുന്ന സഭാദർശനം. പൊതുയോഗത്തിന്റെ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷൻ അർക്കദിയാക്കോനാണ്. മെത്രാൻ ആത്മീയ ശുശ്രൂഷകൾക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകും; അർക്കദിയാക്കോൻ ഭൗതിക കാര്യങ്ങൾക്കും. അങ്കമാലിയിൽ അർക്കദിയാക്കോൻ താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന പള്ളി അർക്കദിയാക്കോന്റെ പള്ളി. മാർ അബ്രാഹം താമസിച്ചിരുന്നത് മെത്രാന്റെ പള്ളി."

ഇപ്പോൾ കേരളത്തിൽ പിരമിഡ് എങ്ങനെയാണ് നിൽക്കുന്നത്?
