A social page for the historical place of Bhadrakali Devi shrine
anciently located at Ooroottuvila which is 2 KM away from Vizhinjam-Balaramapuram main road. Ooroottuvila devi, the central shrine is located inside the sreekovil (garbagriha) which is surrounded by small edifices of ganesha and nagarajas inside a rectangular compound wall which is decorated with a gopuram at the north side. The committee office of the temple is seen at the west corner and the store for goods to be offered for the shrines by the believers is also empowered here. There is a well for the use of providing offeries to the shrine, which is located at the north-east corner. Infront of the sreekovil there is a namaskaramandapam which consist of kanikkavangi and huge koothuvilakku. The madappally is situated to the south of sreekovil near the edifies of ganesha and a store room is also emplemented with it. The vedippura is provided outside the boundary wall to north-east corner. The remaining ground inside the boundary wall is sufficient for constructing parnu for the parnettu which is a festival comes once with in six years. The gopuram of sreekovil and north boundary wall gate is fully decorated with artworks. The weapons of Ooroottuvila devi is preserved at Vazhavila thampuran thekkathu (edifice of vazhavila thampuran) at mannottukonam 1km away from devi temple.
