Strengthening Ecumenical Fellowship

Colonel Prakash Chandra Pradhan, Territorial Commander of The Salvation Army India South Western Territory, had a cordial meeting with Rt. Rev. Dr. Princeton Ben, Bishop of the CSI South Kerala Diocese, at the CSI Church Headquarters, LMS Compound, Thiruvananthapuram, on 18 August 2026.

The meeting focused on strengthening the relationship between the churches, promoting ecumenical activities, and enhancing mutual cooperation for the welfare and betterment of society.

Major T. E. Stephenson, Public Relations Secretary, who coordinated the meeting, and Major Roy Joseph, Officer in Charge of the Education Department, were also present.

Promoted to Glory | Major Huldamma Johnson

With profound sorrow, yet with the blessed assurance of eternal hope in Christ, The Salvation Army India South Western Territory pays tribute to the life and faithful ministry of Major Huldamma Johnson, DDWM, Punalur District, who was promoted to Glory on the morning of 6 August 2026.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, 8 August 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at The Salvation Army Church, Nedumkayam, followed by the Committal Service at 11:30 a.m. at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Avaneeswaram. Officers, soldiers, adherents, friends, and well-wishers are requested to uphold the bereaved family in prayer and join in praising God for her faithful life and ministry.

Major Huldamma Johnson dedicated nearly four decades of her life to the service of God through The Salvation Army. Having entered the Training College on 28 August 1987 as a member of the "Ambassadors for Christ" Session, she was commissioned on 29 April 1989 and faithfully fulfilled her calling with unwavering devotion, humility, and commitment.

Throughout her ministry, Major Huldamma Johnson faithfully served in various corps appointments across the India South Western Territory, ministering to congregations and communities with compassion and dedication. For many years, she faithfully supported her husband in Divisional Youth Ministry, serving alongside him in several divisions and playing a vital role in nurturing, mentoring, and encouraging generations of young people. She also served with distinction in key leadership appointments as Divisional Secretary for Women's Ministries (DSWM) and later as District Development and Women's Ministries (DDWM) in various divisions and districts. In every appointment entrusted to her, she exemplified Christ-like love, steadfast faith, servant leadership, and an unwavering commitment to advancing the mission of The Salvation Army.

Major Huldamma Johnson will be remembered as a faithful servant of God, a devoted Salvation Army officer, a compassionate pastor, an inspiring leader, and a woman who stood firm in the calling God had entrusted to her. Her ministry touched countless lives, strengthened many corps and communities, and leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and unwavering dedication to God's Kingdom.

As she has now entered her eternal reward and has been Promoted to Glory, we give thanks to God for her remarkable life and ministry.

We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to her beloved husband, Major Johnson V. S.DO Punalur, the officers and staff of the Punalur District, her daughter Binitha Johnson, her son-in-law Sajeev Stanley, and all her family members, relatives, friends, fellow officers, soldiers, and the entire Salvation Army family. May the Lord, the God of all comfort, strengthen and sustain them during this time of bereavement.

𝐑e𝐬p𝐨n𝐝 𝐭o R𝐞s𝐩o𝐧s𝐢b𝐢l𝐢t𝐲 is the theme of our Territory for this year, calling every Salvationist and friend to embrace the God-given responsibility of participating in God's mission. This has become a significant milestone for the Territory as soldiers increasingly recognize and take an active role in sustaining our missional activities.

As part of the COMPASS Strategic Framework, one of the key recommendations for building a sustainable mission is that every corps in the Territory contributes 10% of its corps income to the Territorial Mission Fund. This initiative reflects our shared commitment to advancing the Mission of God across the Territory.

At Neduveli Corps, a historic occasion was marked as the corps was officially declared Self-Supporting. In addition, the corps presented its first 10% contribution to Territorial Headquarters and affirmed its commitment to continue this support every month. During the Holiness Meeting, the corps officers and local officers formally handed over the cheque to the Territorial Commander, officially inaugurating this special initiative.

Territorial Commander Colonel Prakash Chandra Pradhan and Territorial President of Women's Ministries Colonel Rani Phula Pradhan encouraged Salvationists and friends to grow in Christlikeness by responding faithfully to God's call. They appreciated the dedication and commitment demonstrated by the officers, local officers, and soldiers.

Among those present were Personnel Secretary Lt. Colonel Justin Raj, Finance Secretary Captain Girish S. Das, Secretary for Boards and Councils and Officer-in-Charge, SAMN Captain Kiran P. Jose, and Corps Officers Majors Motho Thomas and Liji Motho.

Likewise, at Oottukuzhy Corps,CHief Secretary Lt. Colonel Jacob J. Joseph commended the corps for responding wholeheartedly to the Territorial appeal. He encouraged the Salvationists to continue their faithful commitment and received the first 10% remittance from the local officers and soldiers of Oottukuzhy Corps.

Also present on the occasion were Territorial Secretary for Women's Ministries Lt. Colonel Sonia Jacob, Lt. Colonel Shaijuraj L., Lt. Colonel Evamma Shaijuraj, and Corps Officers Majors John K. Sailas and Priya John.

The inspiring response of Neduveli and Oottukuzhy Corps demonstrates that when Salvationists faithfully accept their God-given responsibility, they strengthen the mission of the Territory and contribute to the advancement of God's Kingdom. May this commitment inspire every corps across the Territory to join in sustaining the Mission of God through faithful stewardship and sacrificial giving.

The Salvation Army India South Western Territory observed the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons through awareness programmes conducted across the Territory, reaffirming its commitment to protecting children and vulnerable communities from exploitation.

As part of the territorial observance, the Anti-Human Trafficking Department organized a seminar themed "Trapped Behind the Scam" at SA LPS Kurumkutty, Parassala, to create awareness among school children about the dangers of human trafficking, online scams, child exploitation, and personal safety.

The seminar was inaugurated by Sri. S. Surendran, President, Parassala Grama Panchayat, and chaired by Sri. M. Munimon, PTA President. Awareness sessions were led by Major Leelamma Stephenson, Territorial Coordinator, Anti-Human Trafficking, The Salvation Army ISWT, and Mrs. Rani K, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Parassala Police Station. Greetings were delivered by Major T. E. Stephenson, Public Relations Secretary, The Salvation Army, Mrs. Jancy John, Headmistress, SA LPS, and Mrs. Shiny George, SRG Convener.

The programme concluded with a pledge against human trafficking, encouraging every participant to become a voice for justice, protection, and freedom.

Let us stand together to protect children and young people from exploitation. If you see something suspicious, speak up. Together, we can break the chains of human trafficking and build a world of freedom and dignity.
