Thiruvalla Male Voices and Choral Society Gospel through harmony... Jacob Kurien, to witness our Lord through singing. The members belonged to various denominations and were from different walks of life.

Two and a half decades ago, a few like-minded youngsters hailing from in and around Thiruvalla, who knew the love of Christ, struck a common chord when they came together as Male Voices, under the leadership of Prof. They met at Thiruvalla Y.M.C.A for regular practice sessions and conducted recitals during Easter and Christmas. Prof. Jacob Kurien was ably assisted Adv. Satheesh Ninan. Those were t

he formative years of the Thiruvalla Male Voices which had then a 15 member choir. Apart from its usual Christmas and Easter renderings, the group combined with fellow singers from TVM, Nagercoil, Palayamkottai, Marthandam and Tirunelveli every Easter. It was only later that the Thiruvalla Male Voices and Choral Society (TMCS) took shape when the family members of the Choristers joined. The TMCS conducted regular Christmas and Easter Carols apart from its cantatas at Coonoor, Trivandrum, Nagarcoil and Ootty. The society continued its powerful witness, gaining in strength, keeping the sanctity and harmony of western choral music compositions by Bach, Mozart, Steiner, Handle and Beethoven. It was to choir's credit that it hadn't deviated from the divineness of choral music. Of late, it has grown into a 45 member group which conducts regular recitals - The Divine Incarnation, The Divine Humiliation and the Divine assurance. These recitals were and are well received by the music lovers in and around Thiruvalla. The society today is also proud to have trained a 30 member junior choir which presents carols during the recitals. The society boasts of a few of its former members now serving as full time clergy in various churches. They include Rev. Daniel Mammen, Rev. Mathews Abraham, Rev. Saji Cherian, Rev. Ninu Chandy and Rev.Jacob Chacko. Recently two other members Mr. Reji Thomas Chacko and Mr. Robin Varghese have joined for Bachelor of Divinity Course at Mar Thoma Theological Seminary, Kottayam and Gurukul Theological Seminary. The Society requests your prayerful support and suggestions in our future endeavors and look forward to interact with all choral music lovers across the globe in furthering the cause of the Gospel through music.
