Thomas challenged young people of churches to help those who are in great need. He took the leadership in organizing the young people of churches. Christian Evangelical Movement (CEM) was found in March 1957. Its first President was Pastor K. Abraham and General Secretary was Pastor V. At first, CEM was aiming to spread Gospel around surrounding towns of Thiruvalla by organizing small retreats, open-air meetings, tract distribution, mini conventions, youth camps and social works.
