On this auspicious day marking the birth anniversaries of Revered Swami Tapasyanandaji Maharaj, Mahatma Gandhiji, and Lal Bahadur Shastriji, a one-day special programme was conducted today with the aim of fostering self-confidence and skills among young women with visual impairment.
🌸 The programme began with the inspiring and powerful words of Swami Vivekananda, devotional songs, and yoga practices designed to strengthen both body and mind.
🌸 The Chairman of the Marudhu Pandiyar Group of Educational Institutions and Founder of ‘Thaai Karangal’ delivered the felicitation address.
🌸 Dr. Radhika Michael and Dr. Balamurugan spoke with care and concern about physical health and health awareness.
🌸 In his address, Swami Vimurtananda highlighted two great personalities whom persons with visual impairment could look upon as inspiring role models:
1. Surdas, the divine poet and ardent devotee of Sri Krishna, who, despite being visually impaired, illuminated the world through the light of his devotion. Though he could not see with his eyes, he revealed the divine leelas of Sri Krishna to people who could see.
2. Helen Keller, who overcame severe physical limitations involving vision, hearing, and speech and rose to become a personality admired throughout the world.
🌸 An interactive session on “What Can Women with Visual Impairment Do, and What Are Their Challenges?” provided the participants with an opportunity to freely share their abilities, experiences, and challenges.
🌸 The first half of the programme concluded on a joyful note with a traditional six-flavoured Chola Nadu lunch.
