The Easter Vigil Mass was solemnly celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal, to commemorate the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. The celebration began in a reverent and prayerful atmosphere, marking the culmination of the Holy Week and the beginning of the Easter celebrations.
Rev.Fr Ivan Peter Cordeiro, Asst.Manager Codialbail Press was the main celebrant of the Mass. The liturgy commenced with the blessing of the new fire and the lighting of the Paschal candle, symbolizing the light of Christ dispelling darkness.
Rev. Fr Austin Peter Peres,The Parish Priest, Rev.Fr Johnson Denzil Pereira, Assistant Parish Priest, and Rev. Fr Edwin Dsouza were also present for the solemn celebration.
The Liturgy of the Word included several readings that traced the history of salvation, followed by the joyous proclamation of the Resurrection. The celebration continued with the renewal of baptismal promises, reminding the faithful of their commitment to live a life of faith.
The Holy Eucharist was then celebrated with great devotion. The church was filled with joy as the faithful rejoiced in the resurrection of the Lord, expressing hope, renewal, and new life.

The Good Friday Ceremony was solemnly observed at Sacred Heart Church,Surathkal with deep devotion and reverence by the faithful. The service commemorated the passion and death of Jesus Christ, inviting the faithful to reflect on his immense sacrifice and unconditional love for humanity.
Rev.Fr Johnson Denzil Pereira was the main celebrant of the ceremony. The liturgy began in a quiet and prayerful atmosphere, highlighting the significance of the day. Special prayers, scripture readings, and the Passion narrative were conducted, helping the faithful to meditate on the suffering and crucifixion of Christ.

The Maundy Thursday celebration was solemnly observed at Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal with great devotion and reverence. Rev. Fr Alwyn Richard D'Souza, Director of the Family Life Service Centre, Bajodi, was the main celebrant of the Holy Mass.

V.Rev.Fr Austin Peter Peres, The Parish Priest, Rev.Fr Johnson Denzil Pereira and Rev. Fr Edwin Dsouza were also present for the celebration, adding to the spiritual significance of the occasion.
During the liturgy, the meaningful ritual of the washing of the feet was carried out by Rev.Fr Johnson Denzil Pereira, symbolizing humility and service as taught by Jesus Christ.

The Palm Sunday Mass was solemnly celebrated on March 29th at Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal with great devotion and reverence. The Eucharistic celebration marked the beginning of the Holy Week, commemorating the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

The Holy Mass was led by Rev. Fr.Johnson Denzil Pereira, who served as the main celebrant. He was joined by Fr Austin Peter Peres, the Parish Priest of Surathkal, along with Rev. Fr. Edwin D'Souza.The celebration began with the blessing of palms, followed by a procession symbolizing the entry of Christ into Jerusalem.

In his homily, the main celebrant reflected on the significance of Palm Sunday, emphasizing
themes of humility, sacrifice, and faith. He encouraged the faithful to prepare their hearts during Holy Week through prayer, repentance, and acts of kindness.

The celebration witnessed active participation from the faithful, making it a memorable and prayerful beginning to the Holy Week.

Catechism Day 2026 – A Grace-Filled Celebration at Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal

The Catechism Day was solemnly celebrated on 15th February 2026 at Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal, bringing together catechists, students, and parish members in a spirit of faith and thanksgiving.
The occasion served as an expression of gratitude for the abundant graces received throughout the catechetical year by the children, teachers, and faith formators who diligently contributed to the smooth conduct of catechism classes.

The day began with the Holy Eucharistic Mass at 9:00 a.m., invoking God’s blessings upon all the children and catechists, and seeking His continued guidance as they grow in faith, wisdom, and Christian values. Following the Eucharistic celebration, a formal programme was conducted, which was graced by the esteemed presence of Most Rev. Fr Austin Peter Peres, Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Johnson Denzil Pereira, Assistant Priest, Mr George Ligoury D’Souza, Parish Council Vice President, Mrs Asha Pinto, Parish Council Secretary, and Mr Lawrence D’Souza, Coordinator of the 22 Commissions. Their presence added dignity and solemnity to the occasion.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Mrs Lavita Correa, Catechism Coordinator, who greeted the gathering. As a meaningful closing symbol of the catechetical year, the highlight of the ceremony was beautifully depicted through a creative display featuring the Word of God and crowned with a radiant flame symbolising Christ as the Light of the World and the guiding force of our faith journey, reminding everyone that God’s Word must remain at the centre of our lives.

Prizes were distributed in recognition of academic excellence, workbook completion, and full attendance, encouraging the children to strive for both spiritual and academic growth. The catechism teachers were presented with gifts by the Parish Priest, Most Rev. Fr Austin Peter Peres. Snacks were then shared, fostering fellowship and joy among all present.

The celebration concluded on a note of gratitude and renewed commitment, inspiring the catechists and students to carry forward the light of faith with deeper devotion and enthusiasm.

The Kindergarten Graduation Day of Holy Family School was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm on 14th February 2026 at Sacred Heart Church Conference Hall, Surathkal.The event marked an important milestone in the lives of the young graduates as they completed their kindergarten journey and prepared to step into primary school.

The programme was honoured by the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Rev Fr Austin Peter Peres, Correspondent of the School, Mrs. Jayashree Guruprasad , Montessori Coordinator ELC India,Mr. George Ligory Dsouza Vice President of the Parish Council, Mr I.Christopher Kotian,Principal,Mrs Jane Anitha Dsouza, Senior Teacher, Mr. Anjan Kumar, Vice President of PTA, and Mrs. Savita Preema Pinto, Secretary of PTA who graced the occasion with their presence.
The dignitaries were brought in with the lively School band playing a grand entry March.The little toddlers were accompanied by their KG teachers along with the guest.
The programme began with a prayer song led by the LKG Students.
The LKG students welcomed the gathering through a welcome dance. The Chief Guest, Mrs. Jayashree Guruprasad, who inspired everyone with her encouraging words. Rev. Fr Austin Peter Peres, Correspondent of the school congratulated the little graduates and appreciated the efforts of the teachers and parents in nurturing the children.
The children added colour to the celebration with their delightful performance .The graduation ceremony continued with the distribution of certificates, as the tiny graduates proudly received their honours dressed in graduation attire.
