The desire for fame (ش**ة الشهرة)

Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْعَبْدَ التَّقِيَّ الْغَنِيَّ الْخَفِيَّ

“Verily, Allah loves the servant who is pious, independent of means and hidden from the people.”

Sahih Muslim 2965

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen رحمه الله said:

الخفي : هو الذي لا يظهر نفسه ، ولا يهتم أن يظهر عند الناس أو يشار إليه بالبنان أو يتحدث الناس عنه ، تجده من بيته إلى المسجد ، ومن مسجده إلى بيته ، ومن بيته إلى أقاربه وإخوانه ، يخفي نفسه "

The one who is hidden from the people is the one who does not try to be prominent and known, and he is not interested in becoming prominent before people or being pointed out, or having people talk about him. You will find him going from his house to the mosque, and from the mosque to his house, and from his house to visit his relatives and brothers, keeping a low profile.

Sharh Riyadh as-Saaliheen (p. 629)

An-Nawawi رحمه الله said:

( الْخَفِيّ ) : الْخَامِل الْمُنْقَطِع إِلَى الْعِبَادَة وَالِاشْتِغَال بِأُمُورِ نَفْسه

“hidden from the people” refers to one who is anonymous and is focused on worship and taking care of his own affairs

Al-Minhaj bi Sharh Sahih Muslim (pg 2277 vol 4)

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Islam began as something strange and will go back to being strange, so glad tidings to the strangers“

Sunan Ibn Majah 3986

Imām Ibn Al-Qayyim (d. 751 AH) said: “The seeker of the straight path should realise that he seeks a way most of mankind has deviated from. He possesses a desire for a path upon which his close compatriots have the utmost power. [Let him know] that our souls have a natural inclination towards feelings of loneliness from separation and derive comfort from companionship.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Seven are (the persons) whom Allah will give protection with His Shade* on the Day when there will be no shade except His Shade (i.e., on the Day of Resurrection), and they are: A just ruler; a youth who grew up with the worship of Allah; a person whose heart is attached to the mosque; two persons who love and meet each other and depart from each other for the sake of Allah; a man whom a beautiful and high ranking woman seduces (for illicit relation), but he (rejects this offer by saying): 'I fear Allah'; a person who gives a charity and conceals it (to such an extent) that the left hand might not know what the right has given; and a person who remembers Allah in solitude and his eyes well up."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

* The Shade of Allah to which this Hadith refers to is the shade of His Throne.

💯 Years from today, for example, in 2124, we will all be underground ⚰️ with our relatives and friends. 👉Strangers will live in our homes. Strangers will own our property. 👉They will not even remember us. How many of us think of our grandfather's father? 👉We will become part of history in the memory of our generations, while people will forget our names and shapes. 👉At that time, we will realize how ignorant and deficient the dream of getting everything was. 👉We would ask for one more life to spend only doing good deeds, but it would be too late. 👉Keep in mind today, we have the opportunity to do good for others.

𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Everything within the red boundary is the Al-Aqṣā mosque. The golden dome is known as the Dome of the Rock and is above the rock where the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ ascended. The grey dome is above the Qiblī mosque. These two, together with several other domes and maqāms, are part of the Aqṣā Mosque precinct where the Prophets prayed.

There was a popular false myth spread some years ago that the golden dome of the rock was not part of the Aqṣā mosque precinct. It is not true. Both the golden and grey domed mosques are part of al-Masjid al-Aqṣā and were visited by the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ and many other Prophets.

Parents are a blessing, if our parents are still alive, then let's make the most of it with them and give them all the love, affection and care that we have.

You will find a substitute to everything that you lose, but you will never find a substitute for your parents.

If our parents have passed on, then the least we can do is make du'a to Allah The Almighty to elevate their status in Jannah.
