Shaykhul Islaam Ahmad ibn Taymeeyah 728AH (May Allah have mercy on him) said,

وإذا كان في المسلمين ضعفوكان عدوهم مستظهرًا عليهم كان ذلك بسبب ذنوبهم وخطاياهم إما لتفريطهم في أداء الواجبات باطنًا وظاهرًا
“If the Muslims are weak and their enemies have gained an upper hand against them, then this is a result of their sins whether it is by their neglectfulness in establishing obligatory matters both inwardly (having the correct belief) and/or outwardly (like prayer, fasting, zakah, etc).”

So whoever emigrated for Allah and His Apostle, then his emigration was for Allah and His Apostle. And whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for."

أبو عبد الله - من الرياض يقول في سؤاله: ماذا يقول فضيلتكم في من يهب الأعمال الصالحة كقراءة القرآن، والحج والعمرة عن من توفي وهو تارك للصلاة وفي الغالب يكون هذا المتوفى جاهلاً وغير متعلم؟ أفيدونا جزاكم الله خيراً.

تارك الصلاة لا يحج عنه، ولا يتصدق عنه؛ لأنه كافر في أصح قولي العلماء؛ لقول النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((بين الرجل وبين الشرك والكفر ترك الصلاة)) رواه مسلم في صحيحه، وقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة فمن تركها فقد كفر)) رواه الإمام أحمد وأهل السنن بإسناد صحيح.

أما القراءة عن الغير فلا تشرع لا عن الحي ولا عن الميت؛ لعدم الدليل على ذلك، وقد قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد)) أخرجه مسلم في صحيحه، وأخرجه الشيخان البخاري ومسلم في الصحيحين بلفظ: ((من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد)) ومعنى فهو رد: أي فهو مردود. ­ولم يثبت عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ولا عن الصحابة رضي الله عنهم في ما نعلم أنهم قرءوا القرآن وثوبوه لحي أو ميت، والله ولي التوفيق.(ابن باز)
