HISTORY >>>

Mir Syed Daniyal Araqi (RA) — a revered figure in Kashmir’s Shia history and the son and successor of Mir Shamsuddin Araqi (RA). He carried forward the religious and spiritual mission of his father and became an important figure of the Nurbakhshiyya tradition in Kashmir. Amid the intense sectarian tensions of the 16th century, he was arrested by Mirza Haider Dughlat and martyred in 1549, according to the University of Kashmir’s historical study. His martyrdom and burial at Dab, Ganderbal, eventually gave rise to a predominantly Shia settlement around his shrine. Today, his shrine stands as a living symbol of Kashmir’s centuries-old Shia heritage.
