Today's Hukamnama

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਸੋ ਸਿਖੁ ਸਖਾ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਵੈ ॥

He alone is a Sikh, a friend, a relative and a sibling, who walks in the Way of the Guru's Will

ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵੈ ॥

One who walks according to his own will, O Siblings of Destiny, suffers separation from the Lord, and shall be punished

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੋਤਾਵੈ ॥੧॥

Without the True Guru, peace is never obtained, O Siblings of Destiny; again and again, he regrets and repents ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਭਾਈ ॥

The Lord's slaves are happy, O Siblings of Destiny

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

The sins and sorrows of countless lifetimes are eradicated; the Lord Himself unites them in His Union ||Pause||

ਇਹੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਸਭੁ ਜੀਅ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਭਾਈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾ ਸੈਂਸਾਰਾ ॥

All of these relatives are like chains upon the soul, O Siblings of Destiny; the world is deluded by doubt

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੂਟਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥

Without the Guru, the chains cannot be broken; the Gurmukhs find the door of salvation.

ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰਾ ॥੨॥

One who performs rituals without realizing the Word of the Guru's Shabad, shall die and be reborn, again and again ||2||

ਹਉ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਗੁ ਪਲਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੇਰਾ ॥

The world is entangled in egotism and possessiveness, O Siblings of Destiny, but no one belongs to anyone else

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥

The Gurmukhs attain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, singing the Glories of the Lord; they dwell in the home of their own inner being

ਐਥੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੁ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੇਰਾ ॥੩॥

One who understands here, realizes himself; the Lord God belongs to him||3||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਕਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

The True Guru is forever merciful, O Siblings of Destiny; without good destiny, what can anyone obtain?

ਏਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਜੇਹਾ ਭਾਉ ਤੇਹਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

He looks alike upon all with His Glance of Grace, but people receive the fruits of their rewards according to their love for the Lord

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੬॥

O Nanak, when the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to dwell within the mind, then self-conceit is eradicated from within||4||6||

ਜੈਤਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਬਸਿਓ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਤ ਕੀਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਂਝਾ ॥

जिन हरि हिरदै नामु न बसिओ तिन मात कीजै हरि बांझा ॥

The Lord's Name does not abide within their hearts - their mothers should have been sterile.

तिन सुंञी देह फिरहि बिनु नावै ओइ खपि खपि मुए करांझा ॥१॥

These bodies wander around, forlorn and abandoned, without the Name; their lives waste away, and they die, crying out in pain. ||1।।

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਪਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਝਾ ॥

मेरे मन जपि राम नामु हरि माझा ॥

O my mind, chant the Name of the Lord, the Lord within you.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਦੀਓ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

हरि हरि क्रिपालि क्रिपा प्रभि धारी गुरि गिआनु दीओ मनु समझा ॥ रहाउ ॥

The Merciful Lord God, Har, Har, has showered me with His Mercy; the Guru has imparted spiritual wisdom to me, and my mind has been instructed. ||Pause||

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਪਦੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਾਝਾ ॥

हरि कीरति कलजुगि पदु ऊतमु हरि पाईऐ सतिगुर माझा ॥

In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise brings the most noble and exalted status; the Lord is found through the True Guru.

ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਝਾ ॥੨॥

हउ बलिहारी सतिगुर अपुने जिनि गुपतु नामु परगाझा ॥२॥

I am a sacrifice to my True Guru, who has revealed the Lord's hidden Name to me. ||2|।

ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗਏ ਗਵਾਝਾ ॥

दरसनु साध मिलिओ वडभागी सभि किलबिख गए गवाझा ॥

By great good fortune, I obtained the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the Holy; it removes all stains of sin.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਹੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡ ਦਾਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਬਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਝਾ ॥੩॥

सतिगुरु साहु पाइआ वड दाणा हरि कीए बहु गुण साझा ॥३॥

I have found the True Guru, the great, all-knowing King; He has shared with me the many Glorious Virtues of the Lord. ||3||

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਮਨ ਮਾਝਾ ॥

जिन कउ क्रिपा करी जगजीवनि हरि उरि धारिओ मन माझा ॥

Those, unto whom the Lord, the Life of the world, has shown Mercy, enshrine Him within their hearts, and cherish Him in their minds.

ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਦਰਿ ਕਾਗਦ ਫਾਰੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਖਾ ਸਮਝਾ ॥੪॥੫॥

धरम राइ दरि कागद फारे जन नानक लेखा समझा ॥४॥५॥

The Righteous Judge of Dharma, in the Court of the Lord, has torn up my papers; servant Nanak's account has been settled. ||4||5||

Today's Hukamnama

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

धनासरी महला ३ ॥

ਕਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥

काचा धनु संचहि मूरख गावार ॥

The ignorant fools amass false wealth.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਅੰਧ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥

मनमुख भूले अंध गावार ॥

The blind, foolish, self-willed manmukhs have gone astray.

ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੈ ਧਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

बिखिआ कै धनि सदा दुखु होइ ॥

Poisonous wealth brings constant pain.

ਨਾ ਸਾਥਿ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥

ना साथि जाइ न परापति होइ ॥१॥

It will not go with you, and it will not yield any profit. ||1||

ਸਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਪਾਏ ॥

साचा धनु गुरमती पाए ॥

True wealth is obtained through the Guru's Teachings.

ਕਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

काचा धनु फुनि आवै जाए ॥ रहाउ ॥

False wealth continues coming and going. ||Pause||

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਸਭਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਗਵਾਰ ॥

मनमुखि भूले सभि मरहि गवार ॥

The foolish self-willed manmukhs all go astray and die.

ਭਵਜਲਿ ਡੂਬੇ ਨ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ॥

भवजलि डूबे न उरवारि न पारि ॥

They drown in the terrifying world-ocean, and they cannot reach either this shore, or the one beyond.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ॥

सतिगुरु भेटे पूरै भागि ॥

But by perfect destiny, they meet the True Guru;

ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ ॥੨॥

साचि रते अहिनिसि बैरागि ॥२॥

imbued with the True Name, day and night, they remain detached from the world. ||2||

ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

चहु जुग महि अम्रितु साची बाणी ॥

Throughout the four ages, the True Bani of His Word is Ambrosial Nectar.

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥

पूरै भागि हरि नामि समाणी ॥

By perfect destiny, one is absorbed in the True Name.

ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਤਰਸਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਇ ॥

सिध साधिक तरसहि सभि लोइ ॥

The Siddhas, the seekers and all men long for the Name.

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥

पूरै भागि परापति होइ ॥३॥

It is obtained only by perfect destiny. ||3||

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥

सभु किछु साचा साचा है सोइ ॥

The True Lord is everything; He is True.

ਊਤਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

ऊतम ब्रहमु पछाणै कोइ ॥

Only a few realize the exalted Lord God.

ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਆਪਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥

सचु साचा सचु आपि द्रिड़ाए ॥

He is the Truest of the True; He Himself implants the True Name within.

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਏ ॥੪॥੭॥

नानक आपे वेखै आपे सचि लाए ॥४॥७॥

O Nanak, the Lord Himself sees all; He Himself links us to the Truth. ||4||7||

ਸਲੋਕ ॥

सलोक ॥

Salok.

ਬਸੰਤਿ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਲੋਕਹ ਜਿਤਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਨਵ ਖੰਡਣਹ ॥

बसंति स्वरग लोकह जितते प्रिथवी नव खंडणह ॥

They may live in heavenly realms, and conquer the nine regions of the world,

ਬਿਸਰੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਪਾਲਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਭਰਮਣਹ ॥੧॥

बिसरंत हरि गोपालह नानक ते प्राणी उदिआन भरमणह ॥१॥

but if they forget the Lord of the world, O Nanak, they are just wanderers in the wilderness. ||1||

ਕਉਤਕ ਕੋਡ ਤਮਾਸਿਆ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਸੁ ਨਾਉ ॥

कउतक कोड तमासिआ चिति न आवसु नाउ ॥

In the midst of millions of games and entertainments, the Lord's Name does not come to their minds.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੋੜੀ ਨਰਕ ਬਰਾਬਰੇ ਉਜੜੁ ਸੋਈ ਥਾਉ ॥੨॥

नानक कोड़ी नरक बराबरे उजड़ु सोई थाउ ॥२॥

O Nanak, their home is like a wilderness, in the depths of hell. ||2||

ਮਹਾ ਭਇਆਨ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਨਗਰ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥

महा भइआन उदिआन नगर करि मानिआ ॥

He sees the terrible, awful wilderness as a city.

ਝੂਠ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥

झूठ समग्री पेखि सचु करि जानिआ ॥

Gazing upon the false objects, he believes them to be real.

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਦੇਵਾਨਿਆ ॥

काम क्रोधि अहंकारि फिरहि देवानिआ ॥

Engrossed in sexual desire, anger and egotism, he wanders around insane.

ਸਿਰਿ ਲਗਾ ਜਮ ਡੰਡੁ ਤਾ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਿਆ ॥

सिरि लगा जम डंडु ता पछुतानिआ ॥

When the Messenger of Death hits him on the head with his club, then he regrets and repents.

ਬਿਨੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਫਿਰੈ ਸੈਤਾਨਿਆ ॥੯॥

बिनु पूरे गुरदेव फिरै सैतानिआ ॥९॥

Without the Perfect, Divine Guru, he roams around like Satan. ||9||

ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਟਿ-ਕੋਟਿ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ

ਕੇਸਾਂ-ਸੁਆਸਾਂ ਸੰਗ ਨਿਭੀ ਸਿੱਖੀ — ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ

ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਪੂਹਲਾ ਦੇ ਵਸਨੀਕ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਮੁਗਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਦਿਆਂ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਲਿਆ। ਉਹ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਕਰਦੇ, ਸਾਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਤੀਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਤ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਲੋੜਵੰਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।

ਬਾਬਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਦੇ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਜ਼ਕਰੀਆ ਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਾਰੀ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਢਾਹੇ। ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਲੰਗਰ, ਰਸਦ ਅਤੇ ਕੱਪੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ। ਉਹ ਆਪ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਦਾ ਪਹਿਨਦੇ, ਪਰ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਕਮੀ ਨਾ ਆਉਣ ਦਿੰਦੇ।

ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਹਰਿਭਗਤ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੀਆ ਨੇ ਈਰਖਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਜ਼ਕਰੀਆ ਖਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਆਏ। ਪਿੰਡ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪਰ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਿੰਡ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਪਿੰਡ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾ ਲਿਆ, ਪਰ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।

ਕੈਦ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰੀ ਤਸੀਹੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ। ਜ਼ਕਰੀਆ ਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ, ਪਰ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ:

“ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ ਮੌਤ ਆਉਣੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਤਿਆਗਾਂ? ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਕੇਸਾਂ-ਸੁਆਸਾਂ ਸੰਗ ਨਿਭੇਗੀ।”

ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਜ਼ਕਰੀਆ ਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਖੋਪੜ ਲਾਹੁਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੇਰਾ ਖੋਪੜ ਲਾਹ ਦੇ, ਪਰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੀਂ, ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੁੱਤੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਿਆ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ।”

ਜਦੋਂ ਮੋਚੀ ਰੰਬੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਖੋਪੜ ਲਾਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਜਪੁਜੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਅਸਹਿ ਤਸੀਹਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਉਹ 22 ਦਿਨ ਜੀਵਤ ਰਹੇ।

ਉੱਧਰ ਜ਼ਕਰੀਆ ਖਾਂ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਪੀੜ ਵਿਚ ਤੜਫਣ ਲੱਗਾ। ਖਾਲਸਾ ਪੰਥ ਦੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਜੁੱਤੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਾਰੀ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਰਾਹਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ। ਅੰਤ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਪੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ।

ਜ਼ਕਰੀਆ ਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਫਤਹਿ ਬੁਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਸ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਸਿੱਖੀ, ਕੇਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਅਟੱਲ ਨਿਸ਼ਚੇ ਦੀ ਅਮਰ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਹੈ।

ਸਾਵਣਿ ਸਰਸੀ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਸਚ ਰੰਗਿ ਇਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥

In the month of Saawan, the soul-bride is happy, if she falls in love with the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
Her mind and body are imbued with the Love of the True One; His Name is her only Support.

बिलावलु मह
Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:

ਦੋਵੈ ਥਾਵ ਰਖੇ ਗੁਰ ਸੂਰੇ ॥
दोवै थाव रखे गुर सूरे ॥
Ḏovai thāv rakẖe gur sūre.
Both here and hereafter, the Mighty Guru protects me.

ਹਲਤ ਪਲਤ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਹੋਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
हलत पलत पारब्रहमि सवारे कारज होए सगले पूरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Halaṯ palaṯ pārbarahm savāre kāraj ho▫e sagle pūre. ||1|| rahā▫o. ||
God has embellished this world and the next for me, and all my affairs are perfectly resolved. ||1||Pause||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਜਨੁ ਹੋਵਤ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰੇ ॥
हरि हरि नामु जपत सुख सहजे मजनु होवत साधू धूरे ॥
Har har nām japaṯ sukẖ sėhje majan hovaṯ sāḏẖū ḏẖūre.
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have found peace and poise, bathing in the dust of the feet of the Holy.

ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣ ਰਹੇ ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਬਿਸੂਰੇ ॥੧॥
आवण जाण रहे थिति पाई जनम मरण के मिटे बिसूरे ॥१॥
Āvaṇ jāṇ rahe thiṯ pā▫ī janam maraṇ ke mite bisūre. ||1||
Comings and goings have ceased, and I have found stability; the pains of birth and death are eradicated. ||1||

ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਤਰੇ ਛੁਟੇ ਭੈ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਏਕੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
भ्रम भै तरे छुटे भै जम के घटि घटि एकु रहिआ भरपूरे ॥
Bẖaram bẖai ṯare cẖẖute bẖai jam ke gẖat gẖat ek rahi▫ā bẖarpūre.
I cross over the ocean of doubt and fear, and the fear of death is gone; the One Lord is permeating and pervading in each and every heart.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥੨॥੨੨॥੧੦੮॥
नानक सरणि परिओ दुख भंजन अंतरि बाहरि पेखि हजूरे ॥२॥२२॥१०८॥ Nānak saraṇ pari▫o ḏukẖ bẖanjan anṯar bāhar pekẖ hajūre. ||2||22||108||
Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Destroyer of pain; I behold His Presence deep within, and all around as well. ||2||22||108||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਰਾਗੁ ਸੂਹੀ ਛੰਤ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੪ ॥

ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਗੁ ਧੰਧੜੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥

The One who created the world, watches over it; He enjoins the people of the world to their tasks.

ਦਾਨਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਤਨਿ ਚੰਦੁ ਦੀਪਾਇਆ ॥

Your gifts, O Lord, illuminate the heart, and the moon casts its light on the body.

ਚੰਦੋ ਦੀਪਾਇਆ ਦਾਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਉਠਿ ਗਇਆ ॥

The moon glows, by the Lord's gift, and the darkness of suffering is taken away.

ਗੁਣ ਜੰਞ ਲਾੜੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਪਰਖਿ ਮੋਹਣੀਐ ਲਇਆ ॥

The marriage party of virtue looks beautiful with the Groom; He chooses His enticing bride with care.

ਵੀਵਾਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਸੋਭ ਸੇਤੀ ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦੀ ਆਇਆ ॥

The wedding is performed with glorious splendor; He has arrived, accompanied by the vibrations of the Panch Shabad, the Five Primal Sounds.

ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਗੁ ਧੰਧੜੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

The One who created the world, watches over it; He enjoins the people of the world to their tasks. ||1||

ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਮੀਤਾ ਅਵਰੀਤਾ ॥

I am a sacrifice to my pure friends, the immaculate Saints.

ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਸਿਉ ਗਾਡਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਅੜਾ ਦੀਤਾ ॥

This body is attached to them, and we have shared our minds.

ਲੀਆ ਤ ਦੀਆ ਮਾਨੁ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਿਉ ਸੇ ਸਜਨ ਕਿਉ ਵੀਸਰਹਿ ॥

We have shared our minds - how could I forget those friends?

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਆਇਆ ਹੋਹਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਜੀਅ ਸੇਤੀ ਗਹਿ ਰਹਹਿ ॥

Seeing them brings joy to my heart; I keep them clasped to my soul.

ਸਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਅਵਗਣੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਹਿ ਨੀਤਾ ਨੀਤਾ ॥

They have all virtues and merits, forever and ever; they have no demerits or faults at all.

ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਮੀਤਾ ਅਵਰੀਤਾ ॥੨॥

I am a sacrifice to my pure friends, the immaculate Saints. ||2||

ਗੁਣਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਾਸੁਲਾ ਕਢਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਲਈਜੈ ॥

One who has a basket of fragrant virtues, should enjoy its fragrance.

ਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੋਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਝ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥

If my friends have virtues, I will share in them.

ਸਾਝ ਕਰੀਜੈ ਗੁਣਹ ਕੇਰੀ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਵਗਣ ਚਲੀਐ ॥

Let us form a partnership, and share our virtues; let us abandon our faults, and walk on the Path.

ਪਹਿਰੇ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਕਰਿ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿੜੁ ਮਲੀਐ ॥

Let us wear our virtues like silk clothes; let us decorate ourselves, and enter the arena.

ਜਿਥੈ ਜਾਇ ਬਹੀਐ ਭਲਾ ਕਹੀਐ ਝੋਲਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥

Let us speak of goodness, wherever we go and sit; let us skim off the Ambrosial Nectar, and drink it in.

ਗੁਣਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਾਸੁਲਾ ਕਢਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਲਈਜੈ ॥੩॥

One who has a basket of fragrant virtues, should enjoy its fragrance. ||3||

ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਹੋਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥

He Himself acts; unto whom should we complain? No one else does anything.

ਆਖਣ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਜਾਈਐ ਜੇ ਭੂਲੜਾ ਹੋਈ ॥

Go ahead and complain to Him, if He makes a mistake.

ਜੇ ਹੋਇ ਭੂਲਾ ਜਾਇ ਕਹੀਐ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਿਉ ਭੁਲੈ ॥

If He makes a mistake, go ahead and complain to Him; but how can the Creator Himself make a mistake?

ਸੁਣੇ ਦੇਖੇ ਬਾਝੁ ਕਹਿਐ ਦਾਨੁ ਅਣਮੰਗਿਆ ਦਿਵੈ ॥

He sees, He hears, and without our asking, without our begging, He gives His gifts.

ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਦਾਤਾ ਜਗਿ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ॥

The Great Giver, the Architect of the Universe, gives His gifts. O Nanak, He is the True Lord.

ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਹੋਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥

He Himself acts; unto whom should we complain? No one else does anything. ||4||1||4||

Today's Hukamnama at Gurdwara Baru Sahib (Ang: 733-734)

ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

सूही महला ४ ॥

ਜਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਤੁ ਸਹਾਈ ॥

Wherever the Lord is worshipped in adoration, there the Lord becomes one's friend and helper.

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥

By Guru's Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind; He cannot be obtained in any other way. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਭਾਈ ॥

So gather in the wealth of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny,

ਜਿ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

so that in this world and the next, the Lord shall be your friend and companion. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਸੰਗਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟੀਐ ਹੋਰ ਥੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥

In the company of the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, you shall earn the wealth of the Lord; this wealth of the Lord is not obtained anywhere else, by any other means, at all.

ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨੈ ਕਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨ ਧਨੁ ਵਿਹਾਝੇ ਕਚੈ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਵਾਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥

The dealer in the Lord's Jewels purchases the wealth of the Lord's jewels; the dealer in cheap glass jewels cannot acquire the Lord's wealth by empty words. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਵੇਹਰੁ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ ਵਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥

The Lord's wealth is like jewels, gems and rubies. At the appointed time in the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours of the morning, the Lord's devotees lovingly center their attention on the Lord, and the wealth of the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ ਵਤੈ ਕਾ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਭਗਤ ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਿਖੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

The devotees of the Lord plant the seed of the Lord's wealth in the ambrosial hours of the Amrit Vaylaa; they eat it, and spend it, but it is never exhausted.

ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੩॥

In this world and the next, the devotees are blessed with glorious greatness, the wealth of the Lord. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਅਗਨੀ ਤਸਕਰੈ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਜਮਦੂਤੈ ਕਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥

The wealth of the Fearless Lord is permanent, forever and ever, and true. This wealth of the Lord cannot be destroyed by fire or water; neither thieves nor the Messenger of Death can take it away.

ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕਉ ਉਚਕਾ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਡੰਡੁ ਨ ਲਗਾਈ ॥੪॥

Thieves cannot even approach the Lord's wealth; Death, the tax collector cannot tax it. ||4||

ਸਾਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਵਿਖ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥

The faithless cynics commit sins and gather in their poisonous wealth, but it shall not go along with them for even a single step.

ਹਲਤੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਦੁਹੇਲੇ ਭਏ ਹਥਹੁ ਛੁੜਕਿ ਗਇਆ ਅਗੈ ਪਲਤਿ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਢੋਈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੫॥

In this world, the faithless cynics become miserable, as it slips away through their hands. In the world hereafter, the faithless cynics find no shelter in the Court of the Lord. ||5||

ਇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਲਦਿ ਚਲਾਈ ॥

The Lord Himself is the Banker of this wealth, O Saints; when the Lord gives it, the mortal loads it and takes it away.

ਇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੈ ਕਾ ਤੋਟਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੬॥੩॥੧੦॥

This wealth of the Lord is never exhausted; the Guru has given this understanding to servant Nanak. ||6||3||10||

ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

सूही महला ४ ॥

Soohee, Fourth Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਙੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਙੁ ਮਜੀਠੈ ਰੰਙੁ ॥

हरि नामा हरि रंङु है हरि रंङु मजीठै रंङु ॥

The Lord's Name is the Love of the Lord. The Lord's Love is the permanent color.

ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਚਾੜਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਭੰਙੁ ॥੧॥

गुरि तुठै हरि रंगु चाड़िआ फिरि बहुड़ि न होवी भंङु ॥१॥

When the Guru is totally satisfied and pleased, He colors us with the Lord's Love; this color shall never fade away. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਕਰਿ ਰੰਙੁ ॥

मेरे मन हरि राम नामि करि रंङु ॥

O my mind, enshrine love for the Name of the Lord.

ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਰਾਉ ਨਿਸੰਙੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गुरि तुठै हरि उपदेसिआ हरि भेटिआ राउ निसंङु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

The Guru, satisfied and pleased, taught me about the Lord, and my Sovereign Lord King met with me at once. ||1||Pause||

ਮੁੰਧ ਇਆਣੀ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਅੰਙੁ ॥

मुंध इआणी मनमुखी फिरि आवण जाणा अंङु ॥

The self-willed manmukh is like the ignorant bride, who comes and goes again and again in reincarnation.

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਮਨਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਸਹਲੰਙੁ ॥੨॥

हरि प्रभु चिति न आइओ मनि दूजा भाउ सहलंङु ॥२॥

The Lord God does not come into her consciousness, and her mind is stuck in the love of duality. ||2||

ਹਮ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰੇ ਦੁਹਚਾਰੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਅੰਗੀ ਅੰਙੁ ॥

हम मैलु भरे दुहचारीआ हरि राखहु अंगी अंङु ॥

I am full of filth, and I practice evil deeds; O Lord, save me, be with me, merge me into Your Being!

ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਵਲਾਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਲਾਥੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪੰਙੁ ॥੩॥

गुरि अम्रित सरि नवलाइआ सभि लाथे किलविख पंङु ॥३॥

The Guru has bathed me in the pool of Ambrosial Nectar, and all my dirty sins and mistakes have been washed away. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੰਙੁ ॥

हरि दीना दीन दइआल प्रभु सतसंगति मेलहु संङु ॥

O Lord God, Merciful to the meek and the poor, please unite me with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.

ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰੰਙੁ ॥੪॥੩॥

मिलि संगति हरि रंगु पाइआ जन नानक मनि तनि रंङु ॥४॥३॥

Joining the Sangat, servant Nanak has obtained the Lord's Love; my mind and body are drenched in it. ||4||3||
