On the 10th day of the Saga Dawa month (May 26, 2026), on this auspicious and special occasion, the grand Tshe-chu festival of Dorje Drak Monastery was celebrated, as is tradition, to commemorate the birth of Guru Padmasambhava.
In the morning at around 2:00 am -the ritual liturgy of Lama Sangdu (The Secret Gathering of the Guru) was performed. Following that, the Great Thongdrol (Liberation through Seeing) Applique Silk Thangka of the Guru was unveiled, and the sacred Cham dances of the Eight Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche along with his entourage were performed for public viewing and blessings.

We are pleased to announce a special celebration of Guru Padmasambhava Day (Dorje Drak Tsechu Festival) on the 26th May 2026.

This sacred day honors the great Master of Odiyana, who embodies all the Buddhas of past, present, and future united as one.

The celebration will feature the viewing of Guru Rinpoche’s sacred Thangka as well as the performance of sacred Cham dances depicting Guru Rinpoche’s Eight Manifestations with their retinues.

Dorje Drak Monastery celebrated a historic milestone with the formal enthronement of our first batch of Khenpos (Abbots).
Fulfilling the sublime vision of the H.H. Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche, five accomplished Lopons (Masters) from our monastic college, Thupten Lungtok Shedrup Phende Ling were elevated to the rank of Khenpo. The sacred enthronement was bestowed by H.H. Kyabje Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche, the great Master of the Northern Treasures (Jangter) tradition, mirroring the auspicious assembly of the Buddha’s first five noble disciples.
Concurrently, certificates were awarded to the practitioners of Drubde Tegchhog Odsal Ling and Drubde Ngedon Pema Ling meditation centers, who have successfully completed the rigorous three-year, three-month retreat in strict accordance with the Jangter Bidyadhara lineage.
We extend our deepest congratulations to the new Khenpos and retreatants. May their enlightened activities flourish and bring benefit to all sentient beings.

We are pleased to announce that yesterday marked the auspicious and successful completion of the Jangter Drubkor Namsum (The Three Cycles of Northern Treasures Sadhana) empowerments (Wang).
Today, following the transmission of the remaining scriptural reading (Lung) of Tsedak, afte compeltion of Lung Dorje Drak monastic assembly led by the Yangsi Rinpoche offered a Mandala as a token of gratitude to His Holiness Namkhi Nyingpo Rinpoche.
