Mohini Ekadashi is a highly auspicious and spiritually significant day in Hinduism, observed on the Ekadashi (11th day) of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) in the month of Vaishakha (April–May). Here's why it is important:

1. Lord Vishnu's Mohini Avatar

The day commemorates Lord Vishnu’s Mohini form, the only female incarnation of Vishnu.

During the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean), Lord Vishnu took the enchanting form of Mohini to distribute the amrit (nectar of immortality) among the devas (gods), preventing it from falling into the hands of asuras (demons).

2. Spiritual Significance

Observing Mohini Ekadashi is believed to destroy sins, especially those related to deceit and lust, and helps devotees attain moksha (liberation).

It is a day of fasting, prayer, and devotion to Lord Vishnu.

3. Observance and Benefits

Devotees fast from sunrise on Ekadashi to sunrise the next day (Dwadashi), abstaining from grains, beans, and certain vegetables.

Listening to Vishnu Sahasranama, reading Bhagavad Gita, and chanting Hari Nama Sankirtan are considered especially meritorious.

Fasting on this Ekadashi is said to yield benefits greater than donating a thousand cows or performing grand sacrifices.

4. Recommended By Scriptures

Vashishta Muni explained its glories to Lord Rama in the Kurma Purana, emphasizing its power to cleanse lifetimes of karmic debt.

अथ व्यवस्थितान्दृष्ट्वा धार्तराष्ट्रान्कपिध्वजः ।

The blowing of these different conchshells became uproarious. Vibrating both in the sky and on the earth, it shattered the hearts of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra.

इन भिन्न-भिन्न शंखों की ध्वनि से कोलाहल उत्पन्न हो गया। आकाश और पृथ्वी दोनों में कंपन करते हुए, इसने धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों के दिलों को चकनाचूर कर दिया।

At that time Arjuna, the son of Pāṇḍu, seated in the chariot bearing the flag marked with Hanumān, took up his bow and prepared to shoot his arrows. O King, after looking at the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra drawn in military array, Arjuna then spoke to Lord Kṛṣṇa these words.

उस समय हनुमान अंकित ध्वज वाले रथ पर बैठे पांडु पुत्र अर्जुन ने अपना धनुष उठाया और बाण चलाने के लिए तैयार हुए। हे राजन, सैन्य व्यूह में सजे धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों को देखकर अर्जुन ने भगवान कृष्ण से ये शब्द कहे

King Yudhiṣṭhira, the son of Kuntī, blew his conchshell, the Ananta-vijaya, and Nakula and Sahadeva blew the Sughoṣa and Maṇipuṣpaka. That great archer the King of Kāśī, the great fighter Śikhaṇḍī, Dhṛṣṭadyumna, Virāṭa, the unconquerable Sātyaki, Drupada, the sons of Draupadī, and others, O King, such as the mighty-armed son of Subhadrā, all blew their respective conchshells.

कुंती के पुत्र राजा युधिष्ठिर ने अपना शंख, अनंत-विजय बजाया, और नकुल और सहदेव ने सुघोष और मणिपुष्पक बजाया। महान धनुर्धर काशी नरेश, महान योद्धा शिखंडी, धृष्टद्युम्न, विराट, अजेय सात्यकि, द्रुपद, द्रौपदी के पुत्र और अन्य, हे राजन, जैसे महाबाहु सुभद्रा के पुत्र, सभी ने अपने-अपने शंख बजाए।

On the other side, both Lord Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna, stationed on a great chariot drawn by white horses, sounded their transcendental conchshells.

दूसरी ओर, भगवान कृष्ण और अर्जुन दोनों, सफेद घोड़ों द्वारा खींचे जाने वाले विशाल रथ पर खड़े होकर, अपने दिव्य शंख बजा रहे थे।

1.10:- Our strength is immeasurable, and we are perfectly protected by Grandfather Bhīṣma, whereas the strength of the Pāṇḍavas, carefully protected by Bhīma, is limited
