Every Saturday, people gathered at Lord Shani’s temple carrying oil, flowers, and prayers. Among them stood an old man who brought nothing except a small clay lamp.

Someone laughed and asked, “Do you think one tiny lamp can please Lord Shani?”

The old man smiled and replied, “This lamp is lit with honest earnings. It carries no greed, no lies, and no pride.”

That night, the village was struck by a terrible storm. Many homes were damaged, but when the morning came, people saw the old man helping everyone before rebuilding his own house.

A child asked him, “Aren’t you sad that you lost everything?”

The old man looked toward Lord Shani’s temple and said, “No. A person who still has faith, truth, and courage has never truly lost anything.”

The villagers finally understood why Lord Shani had blessed him. It was never because of the size of his offering, but because of the purity of his heart.

In the battle between two teenagers, defending champion Sheetal came from behind to successfully bag her second gold medal of the Games at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Pitted against the 17-year-old Payal, Sheetal, 18, ed 109-103 in their compounddunnyery open final match.
