On this very special GITA JAYANTI day - do get into the habit of reciting the following five verses from the Bhagavad Gita.
Chapter 4 Verses 6-10
ajo ’pi sann avyayātmā bhūtānām īśvaro ’pi san
prakṛtiṁ svām adhiṣṭhāya sambhavāmy ātma-māyayā
Though I am unborn, of imperishable nature, and the Supreme Lord of all beings, I incarnate Myself through My own Yogamāyā (divine potency), keeping My Nature (Prākrti) under control. 6
yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati bhārata
abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānaṁ sṛjāmy aham
O Bhārata (Arjuna), whenever there is a decline in righteousness and an upsurge in unrighteousness, then I manifest Myself (in personal form). 7
paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśāya ca duṣkṛtām
Dharma-saṁsthāpanārthāya sambhavāmi yuge yuge
For the protection of the virtuous (devotees), for the destruction of the wicked and for the establishment of Dharma (righteousness), I manifest Myself from age to age. 8
janma karma ca me divyam evaṁ yo vetti tattvataḥ
tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti mām eti so ’rjuna
He who thus realizes the true nature of My divine birth and actions (Karma), on leaving the body, he is not reborn, but comes to Me, O Arjuna. 9
Vīta-rāga-bhaya-krodhā man-mayā mām upāśritāḥ
bahavo jñāna-tapasā pūtā mad-bhāvam āgatāḥ
Freed from attachment, fear and anger, wholly absorbed in Me, taking refuge in Me and purified by the penance in the fire of knowledge, many have attained union with My Being. 10
