“Take ISKCON to the Next Level with
Varnashrama for the Masses!”
Dear Devotees,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada’s stated preaching strategy was, “First class, then mass”. After making a sufficient number of 1st class Vaishnava brahmanas (1965-1974), he instructed the GBC in 1974 to execute a 3-Step “Mass Movement” for engaging millions/billions more people in KC by:
1) "Immediately establishing a varnashrama college in every ISKCON center to train all 4 divisions*”,
2) “Establish farm communities 100s of miles from the city temples” for simple natural living, and
3) “Direct people to leave the city and live in our varnashrama community”, not urban congregations.
This bold initiative fulfills his 7 purposes of ISKCON & expands ISKCON’s “Circle of Mercy” by introducing new standards for ksatriyas, vaisyas & sudras that complement (not supercede) brahminical standards he set earlier. It allows people to join ISKCON who would not have been allowed to join under exclusively brahminical rules. Today there are no varnashrama colleges or communities operating on this socio-economic paradigm for implementing varnashrama among the masses, and ISKCON remains at the social fringe after 50 yrs waiting to become a mass movement.
Let’s change that by unleashing the power of Srila Prabhupada’s instructions by following them, and then expand ISKCON’s circle of mercy to spark the mass movement ISKCON was meant to be by engaging billions more people!
I personally got inspired to take up Srila Prabhupada’s revolutionary world-changing order to establish varnashrama colleges in every temple in 1986 after joining full time, and since then I have been preparing myself and conducting varnashrama-related research and development work internationally for 30 years in the development, academic & interfaith sectors in various capacities:
Directing a global think tank developing 50+ global initiatives based on varnashrama dharma,
Working hand-in-hand with top international, national, state and local leaders, & think tanks,
Developing a micro-varnashrama community in Vraja (small temple, ashrama, farm & gaushalla),
Creating an online varnashrama college at http://varnashramacollege.com and
Sharing my knowledge & experience with ISKCON projects taking it to the next level...
It is now time to implement Srila Prabhupada's instructions to establish varnashrama colleges, no matter how limited our resources. There is nothing to stop us. ISKCON is better positioned now than ever before to implement varnashrama globally thanks to the depressed state of the world economy, which Srila Prabhupada said, "When there is question of economic scarcity, they will come to the varnashrama colleges." P.S.S. Our new gaushalla in Vraj (Radha K***a) suffered a severe economic blow this year during the ice storm that destroyed 40% of our wheat crop that we depend on to supply wheat and straw to our cows. Our 2.5 acre farm is barely enough to sustain our small temple (of Srila Prabhupada and Sri-Sri Radha-Gopinatha), gaushalla (feeding over 10 cows and other strays), brajabasi cowherds and guests (hundeds of brajabasis, vaishnavas and sadhus visit us annually). We are about to run out of feed & wheat and our next crop will not be available until March-April 2016. We need to urgently purchase additional feed to carry us the next 4 months at a cost of approx.
