Article 1 of the Salesian Constitution says, "Through the motherly intervention of Mary, the Holy Spirit raised up St. John Bosco to contribute to the salvation of youth... The Spirit formed within him the heart of a father and teacher, capable of total self-giving."
Let us praise and thank God for the gift of Don Bosco to us and especially to the young. May his dream continue to live on in each of us.

Fr Jorge Mario Bergoglio: 50 years of priesthood

1934: Mario Giuseppe Francesco and Regina María Sívori, who met at the Salesian Oratory in San Antonio, get married.
1936: Jorge Mario Bergoglio receives the first Catholic sacrament in the parish of San Carlo Borromeo and Basilica of Mary Help of Christians.
1949: Jorge Mario Bergoglio attends the Salesian Wilfrid Barón de los Santos Ángeles of Ramos Mejía.
1969: December 13 he receives priestly ordination.
2019: The Holy Father affirms that the Salesians formed him "to beauty, work and always being cheerful" and that Don Bosco left "a revolutionary message at a time when priests lived the lives of citizens with detachment".
