Marys Orthodox Syrian Church and used to have a prayer group consisting about fifteen Orthodox families. During 1976, a proposal to establish a Centre at Kalas (Dighi) in memory of Late Lamented H.G. Accordingly, a building committee was formed and a piece of land purchased under the leadership of Vicar, Rev. P.J. James, and the Centre was established by the name of “Mar Gregorios Memorial Centre”
. A Chappel was built by the Centre and first Holy Qurbana was celebrated therein by the then Diocesan Metropolitan of Bombay, Late Lamented H.G. Philipos Mar Theophilos on 3rd May 1981. Thereafter Vicars of the parent Parish used to conduct the spiritual activities in the Chappel also. For the convenience of Orthodox families residing in and around Dighi / Kalas / Vishrantwadi / Dhanori / Tingre Nagar / Lohegaon area, a new Parish was declared in the name of St. Gregorios of Parumala during August 1988 by the Diocesan Metropolitan. During 1989 M.G.M Centre was registered as a Charitable Trust with the concerned authority. Under the Management of the Centre, M.G.M English School was started under the leadership V. Rev. C.V. Kuriakose Cor-episcopa, during 1994 in the name of Patron and developed by the guidance of Rev. Prisquillas. Peter. Presently classes are conducted from Nursery to 10th Std (SSC) with the Recognition of Maharashtra Education Board. The newly built, School building, Church and Cross Vault were constructed under the Vicarships of Rev. Johnson Abraham, Rev. Benjamin S. Philip, Rev. Philipose Mathew and Rev. Thomas K. Chacko. The church/school building and cross vault were consecrated by the Diocesan Metropolitan of Bombay, H.G. Geevarghese Mar Coorilos on 21st February, 2004 and 1st November, 2010 respectively. The intercession of Mother Mary, St. Gregorios of Parumala and Mar Gregorios of Pampady are immense blessings to the Parishners and the local believers thus remain forever.
