Rangiem Santhanamatha Church

Rangiem Santhanamatha Church Roman Catholic Church located at Rangiem near Pudukkottai District, TamilNadu, India In the year 1917 they built a Church in the name of World Savior.

In the beginning of the 20th Century, Christians lived in those days found a deserted part in a village called Rangiem which is a part of Chettinadu Nagarathar’s Clan and formed that deserted part into a place can live in and they named the place as Ulagaratchagar Puram (World Savior village). Since then they began to worship the World Savior in that Church. In 1930s, statue of St. Santhanamatha w

hich is being housed now in the Church, was brought from the neighboring nation Sri Lanka and they started to worship her. Since then the wonders, miracles and fame of Santhanamatha spread. Because of that many people started to throng the village and because of that devotees of Santhanamatha collected donations and built a bigger Church for worshipping her. Later in the year 1999, they found cracks in many part of the walls and tower of the church. Devotees of Santhanamatha started to do renovation works with just Rupees Four Lakhs. With the grace of the Mother Santhanamatha and with the generous donations/ contributions from her devotees, villagers had built this beautiful Church. This was possible because of Mother Santhanamatha’s blessing and grace. Every year, during the second Saturday and Sundays of Tamil month of Aadi, St. Santhanamatha’s festival is being celebrated. Festival time is the rainy season of the year. To avoid the sufferings/difficulties, devotees of Mother St. Santhanamatha decided to build a Mandapam in the west part of the Church. Hence with the blessings of St. Santhanamatha and with the co-operation of villagers, St. Santhanamatha Makkal Mandpam has been built. Those who were blessed by St. Santhanamatha and those who had seen miracles and wonders of St. Santhanamatha, come everyday to worship and get blessed in large numbers.
