Jamia Masjid Darhal Malkan is a grand structure located in the heart of valley of Darhal Malkan and is believed to be having the largest dome of any masjid in the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a two storey structure which will be lifted upto third storey at a later stage. . . . . Designed by a son of soil, Mirza Mohammad Hafeez of Nakka Chowkian Darhal Malkan, a retired Engineer is bein
g constructed by a team of masons from Uttarakhaand under the leadership of Showkat Ali, the chief mason. A large number of local skilled and unskilled labour and volunteers is also involved in this noble cause. . . . . The people of Darhal Malkan have brought this marvel into existence at their own and did not go anywhere outside Darhal Malkan for any type of collections for constructional purposes. Hafiz Mohd Sayeed Sb in the capacity of Imaam of this masjid has played a considerable role in the construction of this masjid whereas Alhaaj Abdul Majid Malik Sb of Thanamang is the chairman Constructruction Committee and Jb Karamat Malik Sb is the cashier. . . . . It is said that it was Peer Rasool Shah sb of Sokar (Panihad) who offered the very first Nimaaz on the place where the masjid stands today, by uprooting some shrubs and laying a plane stone in the direction of Ka'aba; and the very first Jumma was established by M***i Sb of Sorapani at the same place. Then honorable M***i Mohammad Hassan sb of T**a Darhal Malkan (and father of Hafiz Mohammad Sayeed Sb) furthered the regulation of Jumma. After the death of M***i Mohd Hassan sb in 1965 Hafiz Mohd Sayeed sb went to Rampur again to complete his education and on returning back he took over as Imaam-e-Jamia till date. . . . . . Today the masjid can accommodate 10-15 thousand Nimaazies. . . . . The generations to come will be thankful to this generation for this excellent contribution. Kindly pray for all those who contributed their bit in this venture. Aameen !!!!
