Shri Saunsthan Gaudapadacharya Kavale Math ( श्री संस्थान गौडपदाचार्य कवळे मठ, Śrī Sansthāna Gauḍapadācārya Kavaḷē maṭha) is the Guru-Peetha of Smartha Gaud Saraswat Brahmins, Rajapur Saraswath Brahmins and Chaptekar Saraswath Brahmins community. Shri Gaudapadacharya was the paramguru of Shri Adi Shankaracharya. He wrote ‘Gaudapada Karikas’ which are considered as the most important and basic work
in Vedanta. It is the basis on which Adi Shankaracharya has systemized and elaborated his magnificent philosophy of Advaits. Those are Kavale Math with its main Maths at Kavale – Goa ; Partagali math with its main math at Paratagali – Goa; Kashi math at Varanasi and Kashi math at vaishavites. The disciples of Kavale & Chitrapur maths are called ‘smarthas’ and disciples of Partagali and kashi math are known as ‘vaishnavas’
Swamiji of Shri Kavale Math is the spiritual head of Shri Mangesh and Shri Shantadurga devastans besides few other Saraswat temples of Goa. The Smartha mahajans of these temples, Bhavalikar/ Rajapur Saraswat Brahmins and Chaptekar Saraswath Brahmins are the disciples of Shri Kavale Math. Present Mathadhipati of Shri Saunsthan Gaudapadacharya Kavale Math is Jagadguru Gaudapadacharya H.H Shrimath Shivananda Saraswati Swamiji who is the 77th pontiff of this math. His Holiness Shri Swamji normally resides at Kavale – Goa. The visitors are welcome to visit the Math, meet H.H. Swamiji and obtain his blessings
Principle deity of Shri Kavale math is ‘ Shri Bhavanishankar’. Swamji performs Trikal pooja ( Morning, Afternoon, and Evening ) of Shri Bhavanishankar Panchayatan. Shri Kavale math has 16 maths located at various places in India. The math also runs a Ved Pathashala at Kavale where Students from Saraswath Community learn Vedas under the guidance of learned Gurujis.
