*ब्रह्मस्व परिपुष्टानि वाहनानि बलानि च ।*
*युद्धकाले विशीर्यन्ते सैकताः सेतवो यथा ।।*
*न विषं विषामित्याहु: देवस्वं विषमुच्यते।*
*विषमेकाकिनं हन्ति देवस्वं पुत्रपौत्रीकान्।।*

Simple meaning.

Money, wealth or anything that belongs to Brahmana should not be stolen.

If wealth of Brahmanas is stolen ..
At the critical time when it is needed most, the willpower and tools to fight back vanish and go waste just like a bridge built by loose sand.
Similarly

Poison should never be tasted to test it. If one does, it kills only the person who consumes it. Wealth of देवता is just like poison. If one steals it , it kills the children, grandchildren and so on.

Currently looting of the temples by those in power is seen widely. We see nothing bad happens to them.
But have no doubt. The wheels of truth and justice grind slowly but surely. We may say the robbers are not affected. Actually they enjoy the looted wealth. This is only our superficial perception. Who knows their personal life and the devils hounding their near and dear? Do they really have the peace of mind to enjoy?
