The location of Panekavu Bhagawati Saastha Temple has a trail of diverse and intense cultural history attached to it. The place where the temple stands has been considered holy since ages as this place was the hot spot for performing all rituals and pooja’s by a “CHAKYAR family”. With time the sacred land wasinherited
by family member’s generations after generations. It may be considered as an ill
-fate of the sacred place or lack of will, the place wasn’t given due importance and ultimately had to be sold off. In this age of extreme developments taking place all around the world who isn’t crying for a piece of land to set-up their industries and having a merry time making
good business. But Devi had already decided upon the fate of the holy land and it was then only that the piece of land was bought by a devotee named
Sri. He didn’t have any sort of business making intention but to carry forward the rich devotional and cultural heritage of the
sacred land. Under the able guidance of a renowned astrologer Sri. Sunil Dath built separate shrines of Bhagawati (known as Vana Durga),
Shastavu (Lord Ayyapan), Bhadrakali along with Sarpam and Rakshas. Sri. Sunil Dath has succeeded in retaining the sacredness of the land with the same effervescence as it was during the time of the ancestors. The major factor
which was strictly kept in mind while building the temple was the Vastu-Shastra principles. The “Punaprathista” (process of setting up of the shrines at their respective places) was done by
Tantri Kashankottu Manakkal Brahma Sri Damodaran Namboodiripaadu and Narayanan Namboodiri Padu. It is since then pooja’s are being done on a
regular basis in the first Friday and Saturday of every English month and also during the entire Mandala season till makar Sankranthi. The beauty of the Temple location has been enhanced manifolds with the presence of a natural stream flowing by the side of the main temple. The stream has
been dedicated to “Lord Ayyapa” as the green stream resembles the Pamba River in Sabarimala, which is considered to be the abode of Lord Ayyapa. By the
blessings of the Lord, the stream flows all throughout the year. It is our duty to carry forward the rich cultural and devotional heritage of the temple for endless years and help in keeping alive the holiness of the
“Panekavu Bhagawati Saastha Temple.”
