इस संसारको बनानेवाले ब्रह्माजीने एक बार मनुष्यको अपने पास बुलाकर पूछा - ' तुम क्या चाहते हो ? ' मनुष्यने कहा- ' मैं उन्नति करना चाहता हूँ , सुख शान्ति चाहता हूँ और चाहता हूँ कि सब लोग मेरी प्रशंसा करें
ब्रह्माजीने मनुष्यके सामने दो थैले धर दिये । वे बोले- ' इन थैलोंको ले लो । इनमेंसे एक थैलेमें तुम्हारे पड़ोसीकी बुराइयाँ भरी हैं । उसे पीठपर लाद लो । उसे सदा बंद रखना । न तुम देखना न दूसरेको दिखाना । दूसरे थैलेमें तुम्हारे दोष भरे हैं । उसे सामने लटका लो और बार - बार खोलकर देखा करो । मनुष्यने दोनों थैले उठा लिये । लेकिन उससे एक भूल हो गयी । उसने अपनी बुराइयोंका थैला पीठपर लाद लिया और उसका मुँह कसकर बंद कर दिया । अपने पड़ोसीकी बुराइयोंसे भरा थैला उसने सामने लटका लिया । उसका मुँह खोलकर वह उसे देखता रहता है और दूसरोंको भी दिखाता रहता है । इससे उसने जो वरदान माँगे थे , वे भी उलटे हो गये । वह अवनति करने लगा । उसे दुःख और अशान्ति मिलने लगी । सब लोग उसे बुरा बताने लगे । तुम मनुष्यकी वह भूल सुधार लो तो तुम्हारी उन्नति होगी । तुम्हें सुख - शान्ति मिलेगी । जगत्में तुम्हारी प्रशंसा होगी । तुम्हें करना यह है कि अपने पड़ोसी और परिचितोंके दोष देखना बंद कर दो और अपने दोषोंपर सदा दृष्टि रखो ।
Brahma, the creator of this world, once called man to himself and asked - 'What do you want? ' Man said- 'I want to progress, I want peace and happiness and I want everyone to praise me, Brahma ji put two bags in front of man. He said - 'Take these bags. One of these bags is full of your neighbor's evils. Carry him on the back. Always keep it closed. Neither you see nor show others. The other bag is full of your faults. Hang it in front and open it again and again and look at it. The man took both the bags. But he made a mistake. He carried his bag of evils on his back and closed his mouth tightly. He hung a bag full of his neighbor's evils in front of him. Opening his mouth, he keeps looking at her and keeps showing it to others too. The boons he had asked for this were also reversed. He began to decline. He started getting sorrow and unrest. Everyone started telling him bad. If you rectify that mistake of man, then you will progress. You will get happiness and peace. You will be praised in the world. All you have to do is stop looking at the faults of your neighbors and acquaintances and always keep an eye on your faults.
