Arulmihu SooraMahakaliamman Temple is about 900 year old temple which is situated towards the north in front of Bank of "The Ganges River". In this temple, the festival is celebrated for 15 days on every Tamil month of Vaikasi. During the festival time, village people won't stay in others villages. Each street has its own festival time i.e.,Manadakapadi. The Goddess is coming to the
Main temple other than the festival time, the Goddess worshipped at another temple. At first, the Goddess hand is tied with turmeric and rope. This function is called as “KAAPUKATTUTHAL". On that day, the food with meat is thrown upwards for wicked and the food does not come towards the earth. This wonderful event happens every year and it is witnessed by the village people. From next eighth day, the festival starts. Each 'Mandakapadi' is celebrated by each set of people. The Goddess is coming around (Arul
Ula) throughout the village for seven days. The vehicle of Sooramahakaliamman is changed for each day. On first day and second day, the Goddess comes with the vehicle of Hamsa(Lion). Sooramahakaliamman comes with Peacock vehicle on Third and fourth day, and swan vehicle on fifth and sixth day. Finally, cow, which represents peaceful comes with Goddess. The Next Day is a special occasion
for all devotees. The people pray the Goddess and tie a pole with ropes attached for carrying on shoulder gifts to a temple (KAVADI). This function is called as "KAVADI YEDUTHAL". The next day is a wonderful day because of car festival. Car Festival (Thooku Ther):
Car festival involves devotees building a large cart with bamboo and wood, decorated with flowers, flags. The most famous festival is held in this temple, when hundreds of devotees
gather to lift the chariot and be blessed. Chariot festivals is called as "THOOKKU THER" vizha. Hundreds of men will lift the
ther(Car). They come around one kilometer from the temple. The function is very popular in surrounding areas which is celebrated here only in all over TamilNadu. Full Moon Day:
A special P**l Abhishekam (a ceremony of ablutions and symbolic offerings, symbolizing spiritual purification) is held for Goddess
ShriSooraMahakalaimman at this Amman Temple on every full moon day. In the first stage the Abhishekam is performed by oil and Abhishekam by water followed. It is a surprise that after pouring of water for
Abhishekam.Abhishekam honey, fruits,vibhuti, kumkum, milk and thunder coconut are poured over the Goddess to please her. After
that it is distributed to devotees. Homam is addressed to Goddess Almighty
and our through that fire offerings are given by chanting mantras. The devotees are lighting Ghee lamps on that day.Special pooja is held on every full moon day. Santhana Kappu:
The festival is celebrated for one day(Friday ) on every Tamil month of "Aadi". On the day Abhishekam is performed by sandal and
all other things followed during that time. Devotees come to this temple with the main purpose of getting marriages happily settled in the families. Their prayers are granted by
the Goddess Shri Sooramahakaliamman. The people who don’t have child, they will come to this temple and they are blessed with children. If you come, you will receive blessings from the Almighty and your wishes will be fulfilled.
