"To have and to hold..." ❤️

Hearts are full. That is really the only way to describe what we experienced over the last three days.

This past weekend (Feb 7, 8 & 9), the Missionary Families of Christ (MFC) Mangalore family gathered for the Marriage Enrichment Retreat 2. We had over 30+ couples from across Mangalore and Udupi step away from the noise of the world, put their phones aside, and dedicate three whole days to just two things: God and their Spouse.

It was powerful to witness.

We were blessed to have incredible resource couples join us all the way from Chennai and here in Mangalore. They didn’t just “give talks”—they opened their lives, shared their struggles, and showed us what a Christ-centered marriage truly looks like.

A few moments that really stood out:

✨ The Vows: There is something profoundly moving about watching couples—some married for a few years, others for decades—look into each other’s eyes and renew their wedding vows. It was a tear-jerker, in the best way possible.

✨ The Fellowship: It wasn't all serious! We had crazy couple games, loud laughter, and honest sharing after every session. It was beautiful to see walls come down and bridges being built.

✨ The "Heart Champs": To the parents—we know how hard it is to focus on a retreat when you have little ones. That’s why we had a full parallel program running just for the kids! A massive, massive shoutout to our "Heart Champs"—the volunteers who gave up their weekend to serve, play with, and care for the children so the parents could be fully present. You guys are the real heroes of this retreat! 👏

We wrapped up this grace-filled weekend with the Holy Eucharist on Monday, celebrated by Fr. Anil D'souza (Parish Priest of St Jude Shrine, Pakshikere). As the former Spiritual Director of MFC Mangalore, having him there to celebrate with us and bless our families made it feel like a true homecoming.

Marriage is a long journey, but weekends like this remind us that we don’t walk it alone.

Today on December 24, a day before the birth of our Lord, Frank Padilla, father, missionary, and servant, has passed.

Brother Frank lived a long and storied life, part of which was founding Missionary Families of Christ as well as the Live Christ Share Christ Mission.

Despite being a quiet and reserved man, he was called by God to proclaim loudly the Good News, and ever since he said yes there was no turning back. This was because he believed, in his heart, that there could be no greater mission than to live a life for Christ.

On the eve of Christ’s birth, we remember his life verse, which he stubbornly and proudly took to heart:

“To live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21

Thank you Brother Frank for your great love for Jesus, which has in turn set our hearts on fire as well.
