Bear Each Other’s Burdens

“Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 (NASB)

Devotional!

If I was asked to describe Christianity using only one word, I would choose the word, “love”. John tells us that God is love. It is His love that makes mercy and grace possible. Is it no wonder then, if we are really going to fulfill what Christ wants us to do, we must bear each other’s burdens? Bearing a burden means to take that burden on as if it was your own. We are called to help the wounded, love the hurting and to do whatever it takes to help those that are overburdened. If we don’t, who will? Who else is called to do this? It is this love of Christ, lived out by us in community, that is the mark of true Christianity. And if community is going to work, then each of us must prefer others to ourselves. We must put the needs of others above ourself. Jesus set the example. His whole life exemplified sacrificial love. So must ours. Today, ask God to help you sense when someone needs help. Ask Him to help you bear their burden.

Dear Heavenly Father God,
I am so grateful that You have borne every one of my burdens. Please, Gracious Father God, Give me a heart like yours and the filling of Your Holy Spirit so I might love in the way You have Loved me. In Jesus,Precious And Mighty Blessed And Holy Name. I Prayed. Amén!!

Meditate:
I help others with their burdens!
Imagine yourself as the Good Samaritan. You are walking down the road and come to someone in desperate need. Sense his pain. Feel empathy and God’s love deep in your heart. Visualize God assisting you in helping the person. Sense God’s pleasure. Affirm, “I help others with their burdens.”

SPEAK TO YOUR MOUNTAIN

Mark 11:23 (NKJV) For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

There are times in our lives when situations will not change until we speak to them. We cannot just speak anything; we need to speak the Word of God. You see, it is God’s Word that has power in it to change things. God’s Word has the breath of God within it. His Word is alive! It is living and powerful.

In Hebrews 4:12 it says, “For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Think about that today. God’s Word is living, powerful, and sharper than a two-edged sword. When we lift up God’s Word and speak it through our lips in faith, mountains have to move, devils have to move, and situations that have come against us have to move. Speaking God’s Word, not our little cute sayings, allows God to get involved in our lives and in the things that are coming against us.

As it said in Hebrews 4:12, God’s Word is alive! Just like we are alive, His Word is alive. His Word has His very DNA in it. Wow! I have read many books in my life, and some of them I have read a couple of times, but God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures, is what I feed myself with daily.

When I open the Bible and start chewing on a verse, and then it speaks to my heart, I need to speak it out loud and let faith rise big within me. The devil has no chance against a person that gets the Word deep within them, and then lets the water flow from them to the situations of life. So today, speak His Word to your mountain!

TRANSFORMED INTO HIS IMAGE

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Day in and day out we are being changed into the image of the Lord. We are growing to be more like Him. What does it mean to be more like God, to be more like Jesus, and to be more like the Holy Spirit? It means to act like they would act. We can always see how God would act by looking at the life of Jesus. Jesus is God manifested in the flesh. He said that whoever has seen Him has seen the Father.

So how did Jesus act? He went around doing good and healing those who were oppressed by the devil. He loved people. John could lay His head on the Creator’s chest. He saw people who were hungry, and He went and fed them. When a person had a problem with a demon, He cast that thing out of them.

What was Jesus like? When a woman was caught in adultery, He said He did not condemn her. So we see He was a restorer. When the woman at the well talked to Him and He revealed her past, He never condemned her, but she left sharing the good news about Him. Jesus never condemned Mary. In fact, the only people that He had a problem with were the arrogant religious leaders.

God wants us to look at the face of our Jesus and to be transformed into His image; to change from glory to glory.

The way you do this is to look to Jesus. Look to His large heart and look at how He loves people, and then let that love flow from you to others. Be His hands to a hurting world. Instead of words that would cause strife, let your words be words of His grace.

You see, people are so hungry for love. People are looking for true Christians. They are looking for ones that do not make them feel condemned, but when they are around these Jesus-people, they feel lifted up. It makes them want to know this Jesus too. So today, let us look clearly into His loving eyes and share that love with those around us.

I choose to be a person that lets Jesus shine through me. I choose this day to be a lover of people, because Jesus is. I choose to look into His loving eyes and let others see Jesus in me.

Forget not all His benefits.

It is a delightful and profitable occupation to mark the hand of God in the lives of ancient saints, and to observe his goodness in delivering them, his mercy in pardoning them, and his faithfulness in keeping his covenant with them. But would it not be even more interesting and profitable for us to remark the hand of God in our own lives? Ought we not to look upon our own history as being at least as full of God, as full of his goodness and of his truth, as much a proof of his faithfulness and veracity, as the lives of any of the saints who have gone before? We do our Lord an injustice when we suppose that he wrought all his mighty acts, and showed himself strong for those in the early time, but doth not perform wonders or lay bare his arm for the saints who are now upon the earth. Let us review our own lives. Surely in these we may discover some happy incidents, refreshing to ourselves and glorifying to our God. Have you had no deliverances? Have you passed through no rivers, supported by the divine presence? Have you walked through no fires unharmed? Have you had no manifestations? Have you had no choice favours? The God who gave Solomon the desire of his heart, hath he never listened to you and answered your requests? That God of lavish bounty of whom David sang, “Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things,” hath he never satiated you with fatness? Have you never been made to lie down in green pastures? Have you never been led by the still waters? Surely the goodness of God has been the same to us as to the saints of old. Let us, then, weave his mercies into a song. Let us take the pure gold of thankfulness, and the jewels of praise and make them into another crown for the head of Jesus. Let our souls give forth music as sweet and as exhilarating as came from David’s harp, while we praise the Lord whose mercy endureth forever.

Thou art fairer than the children of men.
— Psalm 45:2

The entire person of Jesus is but as one gem, and his life is all along but one impression of the seal. He is altogether complete; not only in his several parts, but as a gracious all-glorious whole. His character is not a mass of fair colours mixed confusedly, nor a heap of precious stones laid carelessly one upon another; he is a picture of beauty and a breastplate of glory. In him, all the “things of good repute” are in their proper places, and assist in adorning each other. Not one feature in his glorious person attracts attention at the expense of others; but he is perfectly and altogether lovely.

Oh, Jesus! thy power, thy grace, thy justice, thy tenderness, thy truth, thy majesty, and thine immutability make up such a man, or rather such a God-man, as neither heaven nor earth hath seen elsewhere. Thy infancy, thy eternity, thy sufferings, thy triumphs, thy death, and thine immortality, are all woven in one gorgeous tapestry, without seam or rent. Thou art music without discord; thou art many, and yet not divided; thou art all things, and yet not diverse. As all the colours blend into one resplendent rainbow, so all the glories of heaven and earth meet in thee, and unite so wondrously, that there is none like thee in all things; nay, if all the virtues of the most excellent were bound in one bundle, they could not rival thee, thou mirror of all perfection. FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT!!

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

I do not know about you, but I love ripe, juicy fruit. I love summer fruit, and fruit all year long. Here in these two verses, we see that the Holy Spirit has fruit for us to enjoy all year long. Good juicy fruit. He has a bushel of love, joy, peace, and so much more!

God, your Father, knows that to be a world overcomer, you will need love to be working in your life in a big way, so He has given us the Holy Spirit to help us have a healthy amount of fruit in our lives. Now I can have a refrigerator filled with fruit, but if I do not go and get it and eat it, I will not enjoy it very much. I can say, “Well, look at that watermelon in there. Man it looks good.” But if I do not cut it up and eat it, I will not enjoy its sweet taste.

It is the same way with the fruit of the Spirit. It is all there for our taking! Once we ask Jesus to come into our heart, all of these fruits are always available to us. What do we need to do? You have it, so take it and eat it! Taste the sweetness of kindness. Enjoy the tartness of gentleness. Enjoy how juicy faithfulness is. See what I mean? Am I making you hungry already?

Do not say, “I can never walk in any of these fruits of the Spirit.” Yes you can, because the Holy Spirit is your Helper! He is right there to help you pick out a fruit, and then He enjoys it with you. He will teach you how to have self-control. You will not get it all in one sitting, but He promised you that He is in this for the long haul. He promised that He would not leave you like an orphan. No, He is right there to help you, and walk with you, and comfort you when you need. So go ahead: take a big bite of the fruit of the Spirit!

Today, I am going to enjoy some juicy fruit of the Spirit. I am going to let these fruits develop in my life until they become ripe and I can reproduce them to bless someone else.

Intercessory Prayer!!

“You are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.” II Corinthians 1:11 (NLT)

Devotional!

Paul took intercessory prayer seriously. He knew the effect of sincere dedicated prayer on someone else’s behalf. He was constantly praying for the many churches he had planted and worked in. He tirelessly prayed for their needs and God answered his prayers. Now he is thanking the Corinthians for praying for him and acknowledging that God was answering their prayers in mighty ways. We too can pray on behalf of others. We can pray for our family. Pray for our church. Pray for our neighbors and those we work with. We can pray for those that are suffering and in great need. We can pray for their provision, perseverance and protection. We can pray for their salvation, guidance and healing. Today, hear what Paul wrote and believe, “You are helping by praying!”

Today put your faith in the power of prayer. See yourself interceding on behalf of someone in need. Feel the empathy and urgency as you come to God believing that He will hear you. See God’s joy as you ask Him to do the miraculous for someone else. Sense His pleasure as you put your faith in Him. See God answering the prayers that you pray. Feel confidence rising within you and affirm that your prayers and Go d’s power changes things.

HE WILL NOT LEAVE US!!

Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV) Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

What a promise from the Bible, here in Hebrews, that God said He would never leave us or forsake us. When I look at the word never, to me it means never. He does not leave me when I am good or bad. He promised me that once I receive the gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus, He would never leave me. What a comfort this is during the hard times of life!

The Holy Spirit has been given to us as our helper. When we think of the Holy Spirit, we must always remember that He is God. The same as Jesus is God, and God the Father is God, the Holy Spirit is God. He is with us throughout this life to help us and make sure that we get everything that the Bible promises us.

In life, we have had many people that say they are with us no matter how tough times get, but then as soon as times get hard, we cannot find them. But God, the Holy Spirit, is with us, and as we learn to acknowledge Him in our lives and become more God inside-minded instead of all flesh or mind-minded, we will see Him lead us more and more in our lives. When the Holy Spirit appeared to our Lord Jesus at His baptism, He appeared as a dove, showing us that the Holy Spirit is gentle, and that He leads and does not push or try to control. Again, He is here to help us, not do all the work for us. We are co-partners with Him in this life to spread the Gospel and help people come to Jesus. So today, do not ask, “Where’s God?” Look to the Greater One inside of you and watch and see Him help you in the affairs of life. We are co-partners with Him in this life to spread the Gospel and help people come to Jesus. He does not want to be a quiet partner. He wants to be highly involved with you, and He wants to make you a conqueror through Christ Jesus.

God has promised me that He would never leave me or forsake me, so I have great confidence today that He will help me in all of my affairs.
