Sri Sri Jagannath Mandir Dhing Sri Sri Jagannath Mandir of Dhing is a common holy place of pilgrimage.People from different parts of Assam come to this holy place to pray hard Jagannath.

Long long ago a Panda of Jagannath Mandir, Puri had stolen an idol of Jagannath from that temple and placed in a jungle area near tolibor Beel at Dhing, Nagaon (Assam). He had been worshipping the idol regularly and people from different parts of Assam came there to pray Lord Jagannath. Later, the Jagannath Mandir authority of Puri came to know the theft and sent men to detect the case. The Panda

knew it and fled away from Dhing hiding the idol under ground. Many years passed, one night a foot-wear maker dreamt that the idol of Jagannath was lying under ground. In the morning, he disclosed his dream to some persons who went there and dug the place pointed out by the maker when dug, to their astonishment the idol of Jagannath was discovered. They placed the idols in a thatched shed in 1909 and began to worship. Since then regular worshipping has been continuing. Now, the Jagannath Mandir of Dhing has turned to a common holy place of pilgrimage. Evening prayer (ARATI) has been added since a few years back. People of Dhing in particular and people from different parts of Assam and outside in general come to this holy place to pray hard Jagannath. Festivals like Rath Jatra, Ras Jatra, Dol Jatra, 7-day long continuous Bhagawat Path, 5-day long continuous Mahanam are being celebrated every year. Now, with big buildings, the Mandir has all facilities for devotees and tourists. The works and functions are conducted by a Management body constituted by the people of Dhing for a term of three years, In 2004 the golden jubilee and in 2009 the centenary were celebrated with much pomp and splendour. The Jagannath Mandir Parichalana Samittee welcomes all devotees and tourists to pay visit in the Mandir in the days to come.
