The Spiritual Bee is a website dedicated to answering life's deepest questions surrounding God, Soul, Consciousness, Life and Death, in a rational and scientific manner, based upon the principles of Advaita Vedanta. The website aims to incorporate the Advaita Vedanta teachings of some of the greatest sages of modern India such as Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna, Shriram Sharma Acharya (of the Gayatri Pariwar), Sri Aurobindo, Ramana Maharishi, Swami Sivananda (of the Divine Life Society), and Rabindranath Tagore. The Spiritual Bee is founded and authored by Pulkit Mathur. Pulkit has 2 Masters Degrees in Physics, from IIT Mumbai and West Virginia University, USA. In addition she has a dual M.S. in Applied Mathematics and Financial Engineering from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, USA. After working as an investment banker and a hedge fund professional on Wall Street for some years, she returned back to India to found the Spiritual Bee. Pulkit presently resides in Mumbai. Pitru Paksha is a 15 lunar day’s period when Hindus pay homage to their ancestors, especially through food offerings.

According to South Indian Amavasyant calendar it falls in the lunar month of Bhadrapada beginning with the full moon day or day after full moon day.

According to North Indian Purnimant calendar this period falls in the lunar month of Ashwin beginning with the full moon day in Bhadrapada or next day of full moon day.

It is just nomenclature of lunar months which differs and both North Indians and South Indians perform Shraddha ritual on similar days.
