Honouring Excellence and Inspiration

The Ramnee family felt immensely proud and privileged to welcome Professor Diwan Singh Rawat as the Chief Guest for the Final Day of our Annual Sports Meet.

Prof. D.S. Rawat, the 29th and the youngest Vice-Chancellor of Kumaun University, inspired everyone with his remarkable academic achievements, visionary leadership and dedication to research and education.

An illustrious alumnus of Kumaun University, he completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry before earning his Ph.D. in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the prestigious Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow.

With an outstanding academic and research career spanning over two decades, Prof. Rawat served the University of Delhi with distinction as Professor and Senior Professor in the Department of Chemistry. His academic journey also included prestigious international research positions at Purdue University and Indiana University Bloomington.

A renowned scientist in Medicinal and Synthetic Organic Chemistry, his research focused on developing molecules for anticancer, antimalarial, antimicrobial and anti-Parkinson therapies. Under his visionary leadership, Kumaun University witnessed remarkable progress in research, innovation and modernization, securing nearly 100 crore rupees in research funding through initiatives such as MERU and DST-PURSE.

Prof. Rawat was admired for his student-centric leadership, commitment to digital transformation and belief in taking innovation “from Lab to Land.” His efforts towards social and environmental initiatives, including the revival of snow trout fish in Nainital Lake, reflected his dedication to science for society.

Recipient of several prestigious honours including the CRSI Young Scientist Award and ISCB Young Scientist Award, he is also a Fellow of the National Academy and served as Associate Editor of internationally reputed journals like *Nature Scientific Reports* and *RSC Advances*.

His inspiring journey from a student of Kumaun University to its distinguished Vice-Chancellor truly motivated our young learners and the entire Ramnee community.

The Ramnee family extended heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Rawat for gracing the occasion with his esteemed presence.

From Ramnee to the World — Inspiring Journeys. Living the Dream of Mary Ward.
It was a matter of immense pride and joy for the Ramnee family to welcome back two outstanding alumnae as special guests for Annual Sports Day & P.T. Display 2026.
Ms. Upasana Bora from the ISC Batch of 2009–10 graced the First Show on 8th May as the Chief Guest, while Ms. Naina Adhikari from the ISC Batch of 2017–18 was the Guest of Honour for the Final Show on 15th May.
Both these remarkable women have carved a niche for themselves in their respective fields and continue to inspire the younger generation through their achievements, confidence, determination, and commitment.
While Upasana Bora, Co-founder of Droom and Founder of Ground Zero, has made her mark in the world of entrepreneurship and innovation, Naina Adhikari has brought laurels through her achievements as an Indian Kayak Athlete, inspiring countless young girls to dream fearlessly and push boundaries.
What makes their journeys even more meaningful is that both of them are already living the dream of Mary Ward — “Women in time to come will do much.” Their lives beautifully reflect the values of courage, leadership, compassion, resilience, and service that Ramnee strives to nurture in every student.
At the same time, this spirit is not limited to a few individuals alone. Across different walks of life, countless Ramneeites continue to quietly make meaningful contributions to society, carrying forward the values and ethos of our alma mater with sincerity and grace.
Their journeys will surely inspire our present generation of students to dream bigger, strive harder, and become more — not only in terms of success and achievement, but also as compassionate and responsible human beings.
The Ramnee family feels truly blessed and proud to see its daughters shining in diverse fields while remaining deeply connected to their roots. May their journeys continue to inspire many more young Ramneeites to make a positive difference in the world.
