റോമാ 8 : 1-6
വിശുദ്ധ പൗലോസ് ശ്ലീഹാ റോമാക്കാർക്ക് എഴുതിയ ലേഖനത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള വായന
ആകയാല്, ഇപ്പോള് ഈശോമിശിഹായോട് ഐക്യപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കു ശിക്ഷാവിധിയില്ല.
എന്തെന്നാല്, ഈശോമിശിഹായിലുള്ള ജീവാത്മാവിന്റെ നിയമം നിന്നെ പാപത്തിന്റെയും മരണത്തിന്റെയും നിയമത്തില്നിന്നു സ്വതന്ത്രനാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ശരീരത്താല് ബലഹീനമാക്കപ്പെട്ട നിയമത്തിന് അസാധ്യമായത് ദൈവം ചെയ്തു. അവിടുന്നു തന്റെ പുത്രനെ പാപപരിഹാരത്തിനുവേണ്ടി പാപകരമായ ശരീരത്തിന്റെ സാദൃശ്യത്തില് അയച്ചുകൊണ്ട് പാപത്തിനു ശരീരത്തില് ശിക്ഷ വിധിച്ചു.
ഇത് ശരീരത്തിന്റെ പ്രവണതകള്ക്കനുസരിച്ചു ജീവിക്കാതെ, ആത്മാവിന്റെ പ്രചോദനമനുസരിച്ചു ജീവിക്കുന്ന നമ്മില് നിയമത്തിന്റെ അനുശാസനം സഫലമാകുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടിയാണ്.
എന്തെന്നാല്, ജഡികമായി ജീവിക്കുന്നവര് ജഡികകാര്യങ്ങളില് മനസ്സുവയ്ക്കുന്നു. ആത്മീയമായി ജീവിക്കുന്നവരാകട്ടെ, ആത്മീയകാര്യങ്ങളില് മനസ്സുവയ്ക്കുന്നു.
ജഡികാഭിലാഷങ്ങള് മരണത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്നു; ആത്മീയാഭിലാഷങ്ങള് ജീവനിലേക്കും സമാധാനത്തിലേക്കും.

മത്താ 6 : 19-24
വിശുദ്ധ മത്തായി അറിയിച്ച നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവീശോമിശിഹായുടെ പരിശുദ്ധ സുവിശേഷം
ഭൂമിയില് നിക്ഷേപം കരുതിവയ്ക്കരുത്. തുരുമ്പും കീടങ്ങളും അവനശിപ്പിക്കും; കള്ളന്മാര് തുരന്നു മോഷ്ടിക്കും.
എന്നാല്, സ്വര്ഗത്തില് നിങ്ങള്ക്കായി നിക്ഷേപങ്ങള് കരുതിവയ്ക്കുക. അവിടെ തുരുമ്പും കീടങ്ങളും അവനശിപ്പിക്കുകയില്ല; കള്ളന്മാര് മോഷ്ടിക്കുകയില്ല.
നിങ്ങളുടെ നിക്ഷേപം എവിടെയോ അവിടെയായിരിക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയവും.
കണ്ണാണു ശരീരത്തിന്റെ വിളക്ക്. കണ്ണ് കുറ്റമറ്റതെങ്കില് ശരീരം മുഴുവന്പ്രകാശിക്കും.
കണ്ണ് ദുഷ്ടമാണെങ്കിലോ ശരീരം മുഴുവന് ഇരുണ്ടുപോകും. നിന്നിലെ പ്രകാശം അന്ധകാരമാണെങ്കില് അന്ധകാരം എത്രയോ വലുതായിരിക്കും.
രണ്ട്യജമാനന്മാരെ സേവിക്കാന് ആര്ക്കും സാധിക്കുകയില്ല: ഒന്നുകില്, ഒരുവനെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുകയും അപരനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും; അല്ലെങ്കില് ഒരുവനെ ബഹുമാനിക്കുകയും അപരനെ നിന്ദിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യും. ദൈവത്തെയും മാമോനെയും സേവിക്കാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സാധിക്കുകയില്ല.

A Reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Romans
Hence, now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed you from the law of sin and death.

For what the law, weakened by the flesh, was powerless to do, this God has done: by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for the sake of sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

so that the righteous decree of the law might be fulfilled in us, who live not according to the flesh but according to the spirit.
5
For those who live according to the flesh are concerned with the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit with the things of the spirit.
6
The concern of the flesh is death, but the concern of the spirit is life and peace.

But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal.

For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

“The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light;

but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness. And if the light in you is darkness, how great will the darkness be.
24
“No one can serve two masters.m He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
