THIRUMANA THIRUTHALANGAL - THIRUMANANCHERI

'Thirumanancheri' (Thiru Manam Cheri) is a village located near Cauvery River in Nagapattinam district. The village name comes from the god Shiva. Thirumanam mean marriage; cheri denotes a village or hamlet. Shiva married Parvathi at this place so the village is called marriage (Thirumanancheri).

Where is the temple located?

The temple can be reached by travelling about 15 Kms from Mayavaram in Nagapattinam District. Also by travelling about 5 Kms from Kutralam, we can reach this temple; There are lots of local buses that run from Mayiladuthurai too; we can also get in to the buses that runs via Kutralam towards Kumbakonam and there are lots of Trains also. There are so many cars that run from Kumbakonam, Myladuthurai and Kutralam and the car drivers will wait for the poojas to finish and can take back once again.

Temple timings

From Morning 6.30 AM to 1.30 Noon and Evening 3.30 PM to 8.30 PM

About the temple

Parvathi Devi performed Tapas in this sthalam to marry Shiva Perumaan and finally got married in this sthalam and because of this the sthalam is called as "Thiru Mananchery".

There is yet another speciality about this sthalam. One among the form of Lord Shiva is Arulmighu Dhakshina moorthy in Yoga ( in deep tapas) form and to get him out of that tapas, Manmadhan, the got of love threw an arrow of flower on Shiva Perumaan; Lord Shiva opened his 3rd eye from the forehead and made Manmadhan into Ash; Rathi devi wife of Manmadhan requested Lord Shiva to get her husband back and got him in this Thirumanancheri Sthalam only.

Yet another special attraction of this temple is the Posture of Shiva Perumaan in the form of Sri Kalyana Sundarar in the beautiful Marriage pose along with Ambal.

The Presiding Deity is Arulmighu Arulvallanathar swamy, also called as "Arulmighu Uthvaganathar". Ambigai is Sri Gokilambal; also called as "Yazhinum menmozhiyaal".

It is said that if we perform special poojas for Gokilambal sametha Sri Kalyana sundar by offering him with the Garland, all the hurdles in our marriage gets cleared and the marriage takes place very quickly; there were so many incidents for the bhakthas that has happened here after they come and offer the garland to perumaan and Ambal.

Get two garlands, two coconut, Turmeric, Kunkumam, Campher, Ghee, sandal poweder, betal leaf, betal nut, lemon and banana . As those pooja materials can be bought from the shops nearby the temple itself.

As soon as you enter the temple bow down towards the Kodi maram followed by Sri Selva Ganapathy and then lise 5 deepam on the ghee deepa mandapam and sit inside the marriage prarthanai mandapam.

The Archakar will come and get all the pooja materials you have bought; dedicate completely yourself towards Sri Kalyana Sundareswar and Ambal with complete belief; you'll be given the prasadham at the end of the pooja.

Drink the juice of lemon that you have got from the Archakar as prasadham the next day you reach the home take a bath and drink the juice of lemon without adding sugar (or) salt.

Have the garland tied inside a small bag and keep it in the pooja room. Once the marriage is fixed, along with your wife/husband, dedicate the garland towards the temple; and the prarthanai is completed in this manner.

Another speciality of this temple is by offering the milk payasam towards mangala Raghu on every no moon day (amavasai) will gives the puthra baghyam.

So, marriage is one of the special occasion that has to happen on time for every bride and groom, so, visit this temple atleast once and get the swamy and Ambal's blessings.
