Galeelakunnu St Mary's Jacobite Syrian Church, Ooramana is part of the Syrian Orthodox Church, in Kadanadu diocese of Malankara Archdiocese of Universal Syriac Orthodox Church (Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Church). located in Ernakulam District Kerala, India. It recognizes the Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch, currently H.H Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, as its supreme head. It functions as a largely autonomous archdiocese within the church, under the authority of the Catholicose of India, currently H.B Baselios Thomas I. Vicar of Church is Rev. Elias Karottumangalum. Ooramana is a place known for communal harmony, people belongs to different religions live harmoniously. There are a number of ancient Hindu Temples also. Christians belongs to different denominations have there own place of worship. Presently, the church has 300 member families. Unfortunately, the church got closed in 1977 as a result of the dispute originated between the Orthodox and Jacobite factions. Inspite of repeated attempts to reopen the church, still it remains closed. Now, it is in a totally demolished condition where there is no form of renovation is possible. People were not able to attend the Mass and perform religious ceremonies in those days. In those circumstances, Jacobite believers assembled , and constructed a church
