The three-day seminar on Five Major Treatises of Buddhism and The Great Secret Mantra Vajrayana was organized by the Academic Society of Gaden Jangtse Thosam Norling Monastery. It commenced on the 19th day of the 8th Tibetan month in the Tibetan Royal Year 2153, and was presided over by the revered former Abbots and virtuous spiritual masters (Geshes).

During the summer retreat, a glimpse into the tradition reveals two monks from each class debating during the three prayer sessions (Tsoklang). Additionally, the Monks' Disputation (Pharchen Dhamcha) on the Prajnaparamita Sutra initiates a four-day intellectual discourse. This rigorous debating tradition unfolds in two daily sessions, held in the morning and evening.

ཞབས་པད་སྲིད་མཐའི་བར་དུ་བརྟན་གྱུར་ཅིག།

On the final evening of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s two-and-a-half-month stay at the Gephel Ling Palace in Ladakh. Today this prayer is led by the former Abbots, incarnate Lamas, and Geshes of Ganden Jangtse Monastery (the seat of Je Tsongkhapa), the monks gathered to perform the detailed of Palden Lhamo ritual (tursol) to the great Dharma protector, Palden Lhamo. The prayers were dedicated to the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, wishing that his feet remain firm for hundreds of eons and his magnificent, enlightened activities spread across the entire world for a long time. A safe and auspicious journey for His Holiness and his entourage as they return tomorrow, September 4, to his residence in Dharamshala.

Among the many important spiritual activities in monastery during the month of Summer Retreat, Ta**ra Disputation on the 18th day of the seventh month of Tibetan Lunar calendar is considered the most important of all. In this Disputation sessions, the senior most monk leads the debate. This year Tsawa Geshe Jamyang answers the arguments and difficult questions arises in Ta**ra. He also offers three time meals to all monks.

Here are a few photographs from the prayer service and offering ceremony held on the morning of August 30, 2026, at 6:00 AM. Presided over by Kyabgon Khen Rinpoche of Ganden Jangtse Thoesam Norling Monastery, the entire monastic community gathered to offer dedicated prayers and butter lamps. The service was held to pray that those who tragically lost their lives in the severe flash flood and landslide disasters in the Tibet-Nepal border region may be swiftly liberated from the sufferings of the six realms and attain ultimate peace, as well as to express heartfelt solidarity with the bereaved families.
