महर्षि व्यास ने अठारह पुराणों की रचना का सार सिर्फ दो शब्दों में व्यक्त किया परोपकार पुण्य और परपीड़ा पाप अहंकार रहित होकर, निर्मल निश्चल भाव से, निःस्वार्थ, वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्‌ को ध्यान में रखते हुए मानवमात्र की सेवा ही परोपकार है।
इन्हीं उदात्त भावनाओं से प्रेरित होकर वर्ष १९९८ में श्रद्धेय स्वामी सत्यमित्रानंदजी के शुभाशीष से परोपकार का जन्म हुआ जो आज अपनी सेवा यात्रा के १२ वर्ष तय कर चुकी है। स

ाहित्यिक, सांस्कृतिक-आध्यात्मिक आयोजनों से समाज को जागृत करनेवाली देश की यह एक अनोखी संस्था है। इस छोटी सी अवधि में ही परोपकार सेवा के क्षेत्र में एक ब्रांड बन गया है। संस्था ने सबके कल्याण की भावना से शिक्षा, चिकित्सा, गौ-सेवा, अत्र जल क्षेत्र सेवा, कन्या विवाह, सत्संग एवं राष्ट्र सेवा के माध्यम से अपना एक अलग मुकाम हासिल किया है।
